USESI is looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Transportation Router to join our Distribution Team. This position will be located in our Cranbury, NJ location.
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 6:00pm-2:30am
Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and optimize daily delivery routes for company drivers to ensure efficient and timely deliveries to customer jobsites, branches, and other delivery locations.
  • Plan routes based on delivery priorities, truck capacity, customer requirements, traffic patterns, and driver availability.
  • Coordinate closely with the Transportation Manager, Loading Team, Warehouse Operations, and Drivers to ensure trucks are loaded accurately and depart on schedule.
  • Monitor daily routes and make real-time adjustments to address traffic delays, weather conditions, equipment issues, or customer requests.
  • Ensure compliance with DOT regulations, driver Hours of Service, and company transportation policies.
  • Communicate route changes, delivery updates, and special instructions to drivers and internal stakeholders.
  • Utilize transportation management and routing software to create, maintain, and update delivery schedules.
  • Troubleshoot delivery issues and proactively identify opportunities to improve routing efficiency, reduce transportation costs, and enhance customer service.
  • Maintain accurate routing records and transportation documentation.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives within the Transportation Department.

Required Skills and Qualifications
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and transportation or routing software (Innovo experience is a plus).
  • Ability to analyze routes and make adjustments to maximize efficiency while maintaining exceptional customer service.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and transportation operations is preferred.

Education and Experience
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: 1-3 years of experience in routing, dispatching, transportation, logistics, or distribution operations preferred.
  • Experience working in a warehouse or distribution center environment is a plus.

Working Conditions
  • Transportation Routers primarily work in an office environment with frequent interaction with Drivers, Loaders, Warehouse Associates, Customer Service, and Transportation Leadership.
  • This role requires the ability to respond quickly to changing priorities throughout the day and may require early morning hours to support daily transportation operations.

Reporting Structure
Transportation Router will report directly to the Transportation Manager.
