Job Description Summary

This role is responsible for leading site logistics and warehousing operations, including shipping, receiving, and inventory storage, while ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient processes that reliably support ongoing plant operations.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and oversee safe, reliable site logistics operations, including warehousing, shipment scheduling, and receipt of raw materials

  • Manage site and contract warehouses, inventory records for regulatory compliance, and third-party warehouse leasing arrangements

  • Oversee material handling equipment operations and warehouse infrastructure to support efficient and compliant shipments

  • Supervise customer documentation processing across multiple business units and third-party partners, ensuring accuracy and compliance

  • Act as liaison with freight forwarders and shipping agents, and manage customer issues and complaints on behalf of business units

  • Lead incident response and investigations within logistics, including accidents, spills, and regulatory reporting requirements

  • Drive cost control, operational efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives while managing within budget constraints

  • Lead, coach, and develop logistics personnel and contractors, ensuring effective teamwork, training, and performance management

  • Ensure compliance with ISO standards and applicable transportation regulations, and communicate regulatory changes impacting operations

  • Oversee international shipment execution, preventive maintenance programs for logistics assets, and SAP warehouse management system optimization

Requirements

  • A.B.S. or B.A. degree in Engineering, Business, or Supply Chain/Logistics Management preferred, or a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in manufacturing, warehousing, logistics, or supply chain (preferably in a chemical environment)

  • Prior supervisory or management experience preferred, with strong working knowledge of SAP systems

  • Broad understanding of supply chain operations within the chemical or refining industry

  • Knowledge of government regulations and standard business practices related to shipping hazardous and non-hazardous materials

  • Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements for DOT, FRA, IATA, IMDG, and GHS, including labeling, marking, and shipping documentation

  • Ability to interpret and apply regulations governing the storage, transfer, and shipment of hazardous materials in domestic and international contexts

  • Experience translating regulatory requirements into practical operating procedures

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across site, regional, and global teams as well as external partners

  • Proven ability to lead and participate in cross-functional project teams, build partnerships, and drive continuous improvement

  • Ability to make operational decisions independently while escalating complex, high-risk, or strategic issues to leadership as needed.
