Logistics Manager

DMA Industries is seeking a dynamic and experienced Logistics Manager to lead our 9-person logistics team. This pivotal role oversees all aspects of our logistics operations, including inbound/outbound international and domestic freight, local truck fleet management, and Free Trade Zone (FTZ) operations. The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a proven track record of optimizing logistics processes, ensuring compliance, and driving efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Management: Lead, develop, and manage a team of logistics professionals, establishing performance standards, fostering a culture of excellence, and enforcing adherence to company policies and procedures. Conduct regular performance reviews and provide strategic guidance.
  • Transportation Management: Develop and implement strategic transportation plans for inbound/outbound logistics, driving cost-effectiveness and on-time delivery. Direct and oversee the annual ocean freight RFQ process, negotiating favorable contracts and ensuring vendor compliance. Manage team of 2 logistics professionals.
  • Vendor Relations: Strategically manage relationships with key logistics providers, including carriers and customs brokers, evaluating performance and resolving escalated issues. Establish and maintain performance metrics for vendors.
  • Fleet Management: Direct the development and implementation of efficient pick-up and delivery schedules for DMA-owned trucks, optimizing routes and ensuring resource utilization. Monitor fleet performance and implement improvement strategies. Fleet consists of 4 trucks and drivers, 5 chassis, 12 trailers and 1 flatbed.
  • FTZ Compliance: Provide strategic oversight of all FTZ processes, ensuring comprehensive compliance with relevant regulations and directing accurate and timely reporting to Customs and Border Protection. Develop and maintain internal audit processes for FTZ compliance. Provide direction and assistance to the FTZ Manager.
  • Freight Analysis & Reporting: Direct the generation and analysis of weekly reports on ocean freight rates and projections, providing strategic insights to senior management. Oversee the development of ad-hoc freight quotes for various shipments (air, ocean, domestic), ensuring accuracy and competitiveness. Develop and present strategic freight analysis to stakeholders.
  • Documentation & Compliance: Establish and enforce a comprehensive documentation system for import/export activities, ensuring audit readiness and maintaining rigorous compliance with all applicable local, state, and federal regulations. Develop and implement internal audit procedures to verify compliance.
  • Process Improvement: Lead the continuous analysis of logistics performance metrics (on-time delivery, costs, inventory), identifying areas for improvement and directing the implementation of strategic initiatives to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Establish Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and drive continuous improvement efforts.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Develop and present strategic logistics initiatives to senior management, aligning logistics operations with overall company objectives. Lead cross-functional teams in the implementation of approved strategic initiatives.
  • Senior Management Communication: Provide strategic analysis and recommendations to senior management, delivering clear and concise reports on logistics performance, trends, and opportunities. Act as a key advisor to senior management on all logistics-related matters.

  • Minimum 2 years of experience working with customs and government agencies, specifically FTZ experience.

Additional Information:

This is an exempt position, and salary covers all hours worked.

Work hours/schedule are subject to change based on business needs.

Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Exempt Associates receive a salary which is intended to cover all hours worked including any hours worked in excess of 40 in a workweek. Your salary is intended to compensate you for all hours you work for the Company. For exempt Associates, casual or required overtime worked/working outside of normal business hours, is not compensable. When these extra efforts are either infrequent or on an ongoing basis, it is expected that exempt Associates will consider this extra time during week and/or weekend part of their professional Associate/company relationship and extend their efforts without additional compensation
