Job Summary:Syfan Logisticssummer interns are oriented and trained in basic logistics transportation knowledge and Syfan operations. Upon completion of the orientation and training, interns are paired with highly skilled Syfan team members that provide coaching and mentoring to develop skillsets as a professional transportation logistician, or in a specified assigned team or department in support of logistics operations.

Essential Duties:

  • Completes department rotation assignments to gain administrative and operations experience in the following areas based on student interest:

    • Logistics Operations

    • 3PL Sales

    • Accounting

    • Marketing

    • IT/Data Analytics

    • Pricing

  • Applies the training received on Logistic Tracking Methods in Syfan's logistics operations under direct supervision.

  • Actively demonstrates the principles and concepts of Continuous Movement Management through assigned logistics operations roles in which training has been provided.

  • Demonstrates knowledge learned in training about the Management of Capacity and Coverage.

  • May assist the carrier sales team in the development of strong relationships with carriers through prospecting calls.

  • Updates Syfan's proprietary transportation management system (TMS) with load updates, carrier availability, and carrier capacity under direct supervision.

  • Meets or exceeds identified key performance indicators (KPI's) provided by management.

  • Performs assigned duties as trained and instructed by management in specific fields of interest.

  • May be required to develop and deliver a presentation to members of management on project assignments and outcomes.

  • Participates in team community service projects.

  • Participates in company and intern team building events and sponsored company events.

Skills/Experience:

  • High level of collaborative skills for effective teamwork.

  • Strong work ethic, self-motivation, and "second mile" attitude toward team members, carriers and customers.

  • Effective interpersonal communication skills including strong verbal, written, and digital communication skills.

  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Word.

  • Demonstrates strong customer service skills and service aptitude.

Education Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent

  • Current enrollment in an accredited Syfan partner college or university

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment.

This job operates in a physical office environment andis largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, arms and fingers to effectively operate computer equipment and handle and/or lift objects up to 20 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This position reports under a 40 hour per week Monday-Friday work schedule with standard hours.
