Description
The Student Center Operations at Jackson State University is accepting applications for the Student Center Coordinator position.
The Student Center Coordinator plays a critical role in supporting the planning, coordination, and execution of programs and events within the Student Center and associated campus spaces. This position ensures high-quality service delivery, operational efficiency, and an exceptional experience for students, campus partners, and external clients. The SCO Coordinator will work closely with internal departments, vendors, and stakeholders to manage event logistics, oversee facility usage and contribute to the overall vibrancy of campus life.
Examples of Duties
Event Coordination & Program Management (Student Center Operations Purview Only)
• Coordinate and execute events, programs, and activities within the Student Center and
designated campus spaces.
• Collaborate with campus partners and external clients to ensure successful event planning
and delivery.
• Assist with event setup, breakdown, and on-site management, including troubleshooting
and real-time problem-solving.
• Develop event layouts, logistics plans, and timelines to support seamless execution.
Operations & Facility Support (Student Center Operations Purview Only)
• Support daily operations of the Student Center, ensuring spaces are prepared and
maintained for scheduled use.
• Monitor facility usage and ensure compliance with university policies and procedures.
• Assist with managing reservations and coordinating event schedules through designated
systems.
• Provide hands-on support with room setups, equipment, and general facility readiness.
Customer Service & Stakeholder Engagement (Student Center Operations Purview Only)
• Deliver high-level customer service to students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
• Serve as a point of contact for event-related inquiries and support needs.
• Build and maintain positive relationships with campus partners and vendors.
• Ensure a welcoming, inclusive, and professional environment within the Student Center.
Vendor & Financial Coordination (Student Center Operations Purview Only)
• Coordinate with vendors to support event needs, including logistics and service delivery.
• Assist with tracking event-related expenses and supporting financial processes.
• Ensure proper documentation and adherence to institutional guidelines.
Typical Qualifications

• Experience working within a University Student Center, Student Union, or similar
environment is preferred.
• Familiarity with Event Management Systems (e.g., TripleSeat or similar platforms).
