This position typically follows an 8-hour Monday–Friday schedule, with occasional extended hours, evenings, and weekends during peak seasons.

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Logistics oversees all logistics and supply chain operations to ensure the efficient, cost-effective, and timely distribution of flower bulbs and plants from suppliers to customers. This position requires a strategic and results-driven leader with experience managing the unique demands of agricultural logistics, including seasonal fluctuations, temperature-sensitive inventory, and complex distribution networks. The Director will work closely with suppliers, warehouse teams, and transportation partners to support operational excellence and achieve company goals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop and implement logistics strategies to optimize supply chain operations, reduce costs, and improve service levels.
  • Analyze market trends, customer demands, and operational data to forecast needs and adjust logistics plans accordingly.
  • Coordinate with transportation partners to ensure the timely and safe delivery of products to customers, including both domestic and international shipments.
  • Optimize route planning, carrier selection, and freight costs to improve operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Organize and assign receiving team responsibilities to maximize efficiency while minimizing the amount of time product remains on the receiving floor.
  • Plan and manage receiving department workloads based on shipment schedules and operational demands.
  • Monitor receiving processes and procedures to ensure accuracy, efficiency, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop logistics and warehouse personnel while fostering a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure employees are properly trained on safety standards, operational procedures, and quality control expectations.
  • Develop and manage the logistics department budget to maintain cost-effective operations without compromising quality, efficiency, or service levels.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Office-based role with some travel to ports, warehouses, or distribution centers as needed.
  • May require working outside regular business hours to coordinate with international brokers and shipping partners.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution abilities.
  • Excellent organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated supervisory and leadership capabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of logistics software systems, inventory management, and transportation planning.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities and effectively delegate tasks when appropriate.
  • Experience in agricultural, horticultural, or perishable goods logistics is strongly preferred.
  • Ability to exercise integrity, professionalism, and discretion while handling sensitive and confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and related software applications.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field, including at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
