Job description

As an intern at Melton Logistics, you’ll gain first-hand knowledge of the inner-workings of the transportation and logistics industries while spending time in each of the four areas of our organization: Business Development, Operations, Carrier Development and Administration. You will have the opportunity to work directly with management on a daily basis while learning the building blocks of a lucrative career. You will gain professional experience and be a part of a incredible team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide support to account managers
  • Search for and qualify new leads
  • Recruit, develop and qualify partner carriers
  • Maintain and update database of carriers and accounts
  • Communicate requirements with carriers
  • Assist in entering loads
  • Match carriers to loads using carrier networks
  • Assist in and perform sales calls
  • Negotiate pricing with carriers
  • Coordinate load dispatch and monitor progress
  • Set up new accounts
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Junior or senior level college status with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to multi-task, work in a team oriented environment, make good decisions, and problem solve. Must possess the ability and desire to learn new programs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Two or more years of sales, customer service, or administrative experience

SPECIAL TRAINING: Ability to use Microsoft Office software applications, utilize a Logistics Operations System, CRM Tool & navigate the Windows XP Operating System
