Job description

Thatcher Transportation is seeking a detail-oriented LTL Specialist to coordinate Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) shipments and ensure the timely movement of materials throughout our network. This role is responsible for arranging LTL deliveries, communicating with carriers, processing freight invoices and Bills of Lading (BOLs), maintaining transportation records, and supporting transportation and accounting activities.

The ideal candidate is organized, customer-focused, and able to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and schedule LTL shipments with approved carriers to ensure timely pickups and deliveries.

  • Communicate with carriers to confirm shipment status, delivery dates, and resolve transportation issues.

  • Receive, review, and process freight invoices and Bills of Lading (BOLs).

  • Partner with Transportation and Accounting to investigate and resolve freight invoice discrepancies and order issues.

  • Maintain accurate transportation records within the ERP or transportation management system.

  • Perform data entry and prepare reports related to freight activity and transportation performance.

  • Monitor shipment progress and provide updates to internal stakeholders as needed.

  • Ensure compliance with company transportation policies, procedures, and safety standards.

  • Assist with other transportation and logistics activities as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education & Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 3–5 years of experience in a transportation, logistics, freight, or supply chain environment; or

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, or a related field with 1–2 years of relevant experience.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Basic understanding of LTL transportation and freight delivery processes.

  • Strong attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy.

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word.

  • Ability to prioritize work, manage multiple tasks, and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • Customer service mindset with strong problem-solving skills.
