Job description

JOB SUMMARY
The Logistics Assistant is responsible for supporting the logistics team in coordinating the deliveries within a set timeframe and ensuring they are made on time. The Logistics Assistant will also be responsible for communicating with various parties both internally and externally regarding deliveries.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ย ย ย ย Assess the workload of expected packages by communicating with the intake desk and the assembly area.ย 
ย ย ย ย Use the computer system to view the expected delivery loads.ย 
ย ย ย ย Counsel the intake and assembly areas about workflow, routes, and timing, to optimize the scheduling and routing of deliveries.ย 
ย ย ย ย Establish the areas where packages will be placed for delivery preparation.ย 
ย ย ย ย Determine whether the planned schedules and routes are appropriate for the current situation.
ย ย ย ย Consider availability of the client/customer when the driver's stops are planned.
ย ย ย ย Contact clients, customers, or internal contacts as required to meet delivery or contract requirements.
ย ย ย ย Determine the shipment method using drivers, delivery services, or couriers.
ย ย ย ย Assign, re-assign, and amend route manifests as required.
ย ย ย ย Use courier on-line services to schedule courier pickups as required.
ย ย ย ย Add the appropriate packing slips and manifests to the packages and compile the packages into a location for loading.
ย ย ย ย Change the drop points for transfers as required.
ย ย ย ย Determine the work loading of the drivers.
ย ย ย ย Add drivers to specific routes as required to meet workload.
ย ย ย ย Coordinate transfer of packages between driver and routes in case of non-deliverables.
ย ย ย ย Facilitate the pickup of pumps and waste as required.
ย ย ย ย Participate in Bayshore's ability for customers to determine order and delivery status.
ย ย ย ย Review driver submissions, such as manifests, time sheets, GPS travel records, and delivery reports to check for accuracy and consistency.
ย ย ย ย Data enter information into Bayshore computers using various software for order tracking and KPI's (key Performance Indicators) and customer requirements.
ย ย ย ย Participate and contribute to the documentation requirements of ISO.

Responsibilities Specific to Warehouse and Dex Staff are as follows:
ย ย ย ย Willingness to work for extended periods in cold environments (walk-in coolers) while handling and packaging pharmaceutical products.
ย ย ย ย Ability to maintain focus, attention to detail, and adherence to GMP or applicable regulatory guidelines, while working in temperature-controlled settings.
ย ย ย ย Physical stamina to handle repetitive tasks in cooler conditions, including the use of appropriate PPE.

QUALIFICATIONS
ย ย ย ย High school diploma or equivalent, and relevant post secondary education desirable.
ย ย ย ย Previous experience coordinating a high volume of orders is preferred.
ย ย ย ย Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment ensuring deadlines are met.
ย ย ย ย Solid knowledge of Ontario geographical areas is highly preferred.
ย ย ย ย Experience working in health care is an asset.
ย ย ย ย Nice to have forklift experience.
ย ย ย ย Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.

ย ย ย ย Familiarity with Good Manufacturing (GMP) or applicable Regulatory Guidelines, particularly regarding temperature-controlled storage and handling of pharmaceutical products (a must requirement for Warehouse and Dex employees).
