DPI Staffingย is seeking a Freight Rate Assistant to supportย our customerย in Baltimore, MD. In this role, you will determine the most appropriate, legally applicable, and cost-effective rates and routes for moving domestic and foreign freight across multiple modes of transportation. WHAT YOU'LL DO
ย 
  • Support SFLC with transportation services, including reviewing electronic data interchange between commercial carrier systems (e.g., FEDEX.com) and the NESSS supply and financial management system.
  • Manually input transactions into NESSS when electronic transfer is not available.
  • Respond to customer shipment status inquiries using NESSS, FEDEX.com, and the SFLC Web Application Portal (SWAP) Warehouse Shipping (Traffic) Database.
  • Maintain tariff files, special quotations, publications, billing guides, and freight classification, rating, and routing guides.
  • Compile data on carload, truckload, LCL, and LTL shipments, classification ratings, and carrier equipment.
  • Assemble and organize materials for billing and shipping guides.
  • Prepare bills of lading and review rates and routes.
  • Perform elementary rating, routing, and classification duties.
  • Pre-audit freight bills for correctness.

WHAT YOU BRING
  • Minimum two years of experience with transportation and inventory management processes, procedures, and software.
  • Experience with shipping logistics infrastructure, Government/Commercial Bills of Lading, or other shipping manifests.
  • Experience with commercial carrier online booking systems such as FEDEX.com and UPS.com.
  • Strong oral and written communication and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook).
  • Valid driver's license (held 3+ years) with an acceptable driving record.
  • Ability to pass a background investigation (NACI) and obtain/maintain Low Risk, Non-Sensitive HSPD-12 credentialing.

โ€ขย Ability to travel occasionally (CONUS, Alaska, Hawaii) to support Coast Guard site visits.
