Position Type: Temporary (Approximately 6 Months) with Potential for Temp-to-Hire
Experience: 2+ years of logistics coordination experience required
Import/export and transportation coordination experience preferred
Our client in the Guilderland, NY area is seeking a Logistics Coordinator to support global transportation and shipping operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a detail-oriented logistics professional who enjoys coordinating complex shipments, working with international vendors and carriers, and ensuring compliance with shipping and trade regulations.
This temporary opportunity offers the potential for long-term employment and provides exposure to domestic and international logistics, transportation planning, supply chain operations, and import/export processes.
Responsibilities of the Logistics Coordinator will include:
* Coordinate inbound and outbound transportation activities for domestic and international shipments
* Arrange freight movement through various transportation channels and carriers
* Evaluate shipping requirements, freight costs, and transportation options for customer orders
* Develop and maintain positive relationships with carriers, vendors, and internal departments
* Review transportation costs and communicate freight considerations prior to shipment
* Ensure compliance with customer shipping specifications and delivery requirements
* Create, review, and maintain shipping documentation including commercial invoices, packing lists, and related records
* Assist with import/export compliance and transportation documentation requirements
* Monitor shipment activity and proactively resolve shipping or transportation issues
* Utilize SAP and related systems to process shipping transactions, inventory movements, and order information
* Analyze logistics metrics and recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and service levels
* Support compliance with C-TPAT, Export Administration Regulations, and other shipping requirements
* Maintain accurate shipment records and documentation files
* Collaborate with operations, customer service, purchasing, and other departments to support business objectives
Job Requirements
Qualifications for the role of Logistics Coordinator:
* 2+ years of logistics, transportation, supply chain, or shipping coordination experience required
* Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Business, or related field preferred
* Strong knowledge of transportation coordination and freight management practices
* Experience with import/export documentation and shipping compliance preferred
* SAP experience strongly preferred
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel and Outlook
* Excellent organizational, communication, and time management skills
* Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Knowledge of international shipping regulations, customs documentation, and trade compliance is a plus
* Experience working in manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain environments preferred
