Job description

Operations Manager — Amazon DSP

Confidential Employer — Amazon Delivery Company (Delivery Service Partner)

Sterling Heights area, MI  |  Full-Time  |  4 days/week (6 days during peak season)

$55,000 – $75,000 per year, based on experience

About Us

We are a locally owned Amazon delivery company — an official Amazon Delivery Service Partner (DSP) — operating out of a delivery station in the Sterling Heights area. We run a fleet of delivery vehicles and a team of 100+ professional delivery drivers completing thousands of deliveries every week, supported by a dispatch team of openers and closers. We're a company built on continuous improvement, operating efficiently, and rolling out change the right way — clearly, professionally, and with the team's buy-in.

We're hiring an Operations Manager to run this operation day to day, reporting directly to ownership. This is the senior operating seat in the company: the routes, the schedule, the fleet, and the team are yours to run.

What You'll Do

Daily Operations & Scheduling

•     Lead daily delivery operations end to end: route launch, dispatch oversight, driver check-ins, on-road escalations, and end-of-day close-out

•     Own scheduling and resource allocation: build the weekly driver and dispatcher schedule, match staffing to route demand, plan for seasonal peaks, and solve same-day callouts without losing a route

•     Monitor on-time performance, delivery quality, safety compliance, and customer satisfaction; read the scorecard, find the trend, and act on it with coaching plans

•     Build and maintain a strong working relationship with Amazon station leadership; resolve operational challenges alongside Amazon's on-site team

•     Address escalations in real time and control operating costs without cutting corners on safety

Fleet

•     Own daily fleet readiness: vehicle assignments, daily inspections, and grounding decisions

•     Coordinate maintenance scheduling, repairs, and rental coverage so route capacity never depends on a vehicle that isn't ready

•     Track vehicle condition and damage; document incidents properly and follow through on resolution

Team Leadership & Communication

•     Supervise, coach, and develop the dispatch team and the full driver roster — motivate an energetic team, deliver tough feedback constructively, and hold people accountable with respect

•     Coach drivers on safety and delivery standards; apply policies consistently and document incidents and corrective action professionally

•     Communicate clearly and positively when rolling out changes — explain the why, not just the what

•     Support hiring and onboarding: screen candidates, run interviews, and make sure every new driver is trained and road-ready before their first solo route

What We're Looking For

•     3+ years in logistics, delivery, transportation, or operations management — last-mile or Amazon DSP experience strongly preferred

•     2+ years leading hourly teams: scheduling, coaching, and holding people accountable with respect

•     Strong communication skills — this role lives on clear, direct, professional communication with drivers, dispatchers, Amazon station leadership, and ownership, in person and in writing

•     Data-driven mindset: you read performance metrics, find the trend, and act on it

•     Comfortable learning and running operational software; experience with Amazon DSP tools, Netradyne, or Geotab is a plus

•     Independent decision-making in a fast-paced environment — you solve problems in real time and own the outcome

•     Valid driver's license and a driving record that meets company insurance requirements

•     Schedule: 4 days per week in normal operations, scheduled around route launch and dispatch; 6 days per week during peak season. Early-morning availability required; occasional weekend and holiday coverage as the operation requires

•     Reachable by phone or text during operational hours on scheduled days off for escalations

Physical Requirements (Essential Functions)

This role is based in an active delivery station environment. Essential functions include standing and walking for extended periods, occasionally lifting packages up to 50 lbs, and moving safely around vehicles and loading areas. Reasonable accommodations will be provided in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act and Michigan's Persons with Disabilities Civil Rights Act.

Compensation & Benefits

•     $55,000 – $75,000 annually, based on experience

•     Health, dental, and vision insurance

•     Paid time off (PTO)

•     Paid sick time in accordance with Michigan's Earned Sick Time Act

•     Direct line to ownership — you run the operation, and your recommendations get heard and implemented

•     Clear growth path in a growing operation (we're absorbing new delivery territory)
