Job description

Hi there, we're Article. Since 2013, we've been creating remarkably better furniture experiences one sofa at a time. We're now on the hunt for a talented, enthusiastic leader to lead and successfully grow the new expansion of our Patterson, California location. As a Fulfillment Center Manager, you'll consistently oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse and Drayage operations to ensure we create "Remarkable Experiences" for our customers and our warehouse team.
The Operational Reality: This is our largest hub-a high-volume, 712,000 sq. ft. facility experiencing massive expansion. To be successful, your background must mirror our specific industrial realities. We are strictly looking for leaders with proven experience in:
  • Large Box & High SKU Complexity: Managing strict inventory control, cycle counting, and space consolidation for 3,000+ large, heavy-boxed SKUs.
  • Heavy Inbound Volumetrics: Orchestrating high-velocity ocean container logistics averaging 30+ trucks daily.
  • Fleet & DOT Compliance: Managing drivers, fleet equipment, and strict DOT compliance/log oversight.
  • High-Risk Safety: Maintaining an iron-clad safety culture in an environment dense with motorized equipment and 3rd party labor solutions.
Why We Need You: Patterson is at a turning point, moving past simple growth and into a phase of true evolution. We need a leader who sees this bigger picture. In this role, you aren't just managing a facility; you're overseeing the final, most important step of a customer's journey. For us, a delivery isn't just a box on a truck-it's the centerpiece of someone's home, and we need a leader who treats it with that level of significance.

As the architect of our local growth, you will balance these heavy logistics with the mentorship of a rapidly growing team, ensuring that every sofa that leaves our dock is a win for the customer.
Schedule:  Monday - Friday
Location:  400 Park Center Drive, Patterson, California, 95363, US
Building size: 712,000 SQ FT
Team Size:     1 Operations Manager
                         3 Supervisors
                         22 Hourly Particles
This, of course, will grow with the expansion!
Your First Step:
To ensure you are set up for success, you'll start with an immersive onboarding experience:
  • The Article Way: You will train at one of our established Fulfillment Centers (typically for 2 weeks). This is where you'll learn our systems, soak up our culture, and see "Remarkable Experiences" in action before leading the charge in Patterson.
  • Scale our Largest Hub: Own the end-to-end operations for our largest fulfillment center, seamlessly integrating warehouse and drayage functions with an ownership mindset.
  • Architect a High-Performing Team: Lead the full talent lifecycle-recruiting, onboarding, and training-to build a world-class team from the ground up.
  • Develop Future Leaders: Directly manage and mentor a leadership tier of 3-6 Supervisors/Managers, focusing on robust succession planning and professional growth for a total team of 40+.
  • Drive Data-Backed Results: Monitor and report on complex KPIs across safety, customer experience, and productivity to ensure we are constantly "sharpening the saw."
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with internal departments to launch new initiatives and resolve regional logistics challenges with speed and precision.
  • Champion Safety & Compliance: Foster a "Safety First" culture by ensuring strict adherence to local, state, and federal regulations, including vehicle and driver log oversight.
  • Operational Stewardship: Oversee regional procurement, vendor relationships, and labor management (including payroll and overtime) to ensure fiscal responsibility.
  • Problem Solve with Urgency: Investigate and act on safety or customer service bottlenecks to maintain the "Remarkable Experience" our customers expect.
  • A Decade of Scale: 10+ years of leadership in high-volume Warehousing or Logistics. You've successfully navigated the complexities of managing 500k+ sq. ft. of space and teams of 30+ associates.
  • Transportation Mastery: 10+ years of experience managing drivers and fleet equipment, with a rock-solid understanding of DOT regulations and compliance.
  • Operational Precision: A proven track record in inventory control and process optimization. You don't just follow workflows; you refine them.
  • Tech-Savvy Leadership: High proficiency with WMS (Warehouse Management Systems) and the Google/Microsoft Office suites to drive data-informed decisions.
  • Relational Intelligence: Exceptional interpersonal skills. You're as comfortable partnering with executive stakeholders as you are coaching your team on the floor.
  • The Expansion Mindset: You are highly organized, process-oriented, and possess the "entrepreneurial grit" to juggle multiple priorities during a major site expansion.
  • Communication Excellence: Professional fluency in English (written and verbal) to lead meetings, draft reports, and represent Article locally.
The Logistics
  • Travel Requirements:
    • Possess a valid Driver's License and Passport.

  • Availability: Flexibility with working hours to support our multi-shift operations
