Logic Source information

What is a Logic Source?

A Logic Source typically refers to a company or role focused on providing strategic sourcing and procurement solutions for organizations. These professionals or firms help businesses optimize their supply chain, manage vendor relationships, and reduce costs by leveraging data-driven strategies. Logic Source experts often analyze purchasing patterns, negotiate with suppliers, and implement best procurement practices to improve operational efficiency. Their work is crucial for organizations looking to streamline spending and achieve better value from their suppliers.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a sourcing analyst, and why are they important?

To excel as a Sourcing Analyst, you need strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and a bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, or a related field. Familiarity with procurement software (like SAP Ariba), data analysis tools (such as Excel or Tableau), and contract management systems is essential. Effective communication, negotiation skills, and the ability to build relationships make candidates stand out. These competencies are crucial for optimizing procurement processes, driving cost savings, and ensuring effective supplier partnerships.

What are some common challenges faced by professionals working in logic sourcing, and how can they be addressed?

Professionals in logic sourcing often encounter challenges such as rapidly changing supplier landscapes, balancing cost efficiency with quality requirements, and coordinating communication across multiple departments. To address these challenges, it's important to build strong relationships with suppliers, stay updated on market trends, and leverage data analytics for informed decision-making. Collaborating closely with cross-functional teams like engineering and procurement also helps ensure that sourcing strategies align with overall business objectives.

Job description

Description
Essent Group Ltd. (NYSE: ESNT) is a Bermuda-based holding company (collectively with its subsidiaries, "Essent") which serves the housing finance industry by offering private mortgage insurance, reinsurance, risk management products and title insurance and settlement services to mortgage lenders, borrowers, and investors to support homeownership. We are focused on managing risk and dedicated to serving as a strong and fair counterparty. As a company, we bring strong private capital and a commitment to risk management to the mortgage insurance industry.
Title: Power BI & Data Analytics Lead - Operational Reporting
Location: Radnor, PA (Fully in office)
The Power BI & Data Analytics Lead is responsible for designing, building, and stewarding enterprise analytics solutions that span Power BI, semantic modeling, and upstream data preparation. This role serves as a senior individual contributor and technical lead, operating across the full analytics stack-from backend data shaping and performance optimization to executive-facing dashboards and governed self-service reporting. The role partners closely with Operations, IT, and Data Management to translate business requirements into accurate, scalable, and sustainable analytics assets, while guiding architectural decisions, resolving complex data issues, and ensuring trust in enterprise reporting. This position plays a key role in analytics modernization efforts, including migration from legacy reporting tools and enablement of standardized, reusable data models.
As a dynamic and resourceful professional, we will rely on you to perform the following duties:
Data Engineering, Upstream Data Enablement & Semantic Modeling
  • Design and steward enterprise Power BI semantic models that centralize business logic, calculations, and KPIs to establish a single source of truth.
  • Define and enforce standards for metric definitions, calculations, and reuse, preventing duplication and reconciliation discrepancies across reports.
  • Collaborate with Data Management and IT teams on data sourcing, transformation, and schema design, including SQL-based preparation and star schema alignment.
  • Evaluate and determine where logic should reside (source systems, data products, Power Query, or semantic models) to improve performance, maintainability, and scalability.

Enterprise Analytics & Power BI Solution Ownership
  • Lead the end-to-end design, development, and support of Power BI analytics solutions, including shared semantic models, dashboards, and Power BI apps used across multiple business domains.
  • Ensure analytics solutions meet executive, operational, and regulatory reporting needs with a focus on accuracy, consistency, and usability.
  • Support and apply analytics governance practices, including workspace strategy, environment promotion (Dev/Test/Prod), access controls, documentation, and ownership models.
  • Contribute to enterprise discussions on version control, change management, and analytics lifecycle management to enable sustainable growth.

Business Partnership & Analytics Leadership
  • Contribute to the broader transition from Cognos to Power BI, supporting enterprise analytics modernization.
  • Translate business priorities and leadership questions into clear analytics requirements and technical designs, providing guidance on feasibility, risk, and trade-offs.
  • Act as a trusted analytics advisor, communicating technical decisions and data insights in business-focused language to non-technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide analysts and developers, promoting best practices across Power BI and enterprise analytics.

Performance Optimization, Complex Issue Resolution & Standards
  • Diagnose and resolve complex performance, refresh, and reconciliation issues across Power BI models and backend data sources.
  • Make informed architectural decisions regarding storage modes, query patterns, and data volume constraints, balancing performance with data integrity.
  • Support and apply analytics governance practices, including workspace strategy, environment promotion (Dev/Test/Prod), access controls, documentation, and ownership models.
  • Contribute to enterprise discussions on version control, change management, and analytics lifecycle management to enable sustainable growth.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 5-8 years' of direct Power BI / enterprise analytics experience
  • 3-5 years' operating at a lead / senior-individual-contributor level influencing architecture, standards, and cross-functional outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to design, deliver, and steward enterprise analytics solutions that support executive decision-making, operational performance management, and regulated business processes
  • Strong expertise in Power BI architecture, including semantic models, datasets, reports, apps, storage modes, and workspace/environment design
  • Proven capability to define and govern enterprise metrics and KPIs, ensuring accuracy, consistency, reconciliation, and long-term trust in reporting
  • Working knowledge of data engineering and backend data concepts, including SQL-based transformations, star schema design, and upstream data dependencies
  • Ability to evaluate and implement analytics logic across the stack (data sources, transformations, semantic models), balancing performance, scalability, and maintainability
  • Demonstrated skill in diagnosing and resolving complex data, performance, and reconciliation issues across analytics and data pipelines
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements and leadership priorities into governed, scalable analytics solutions
  • Experience applying analytics governance and lifecycle practices, including promotion paths, access controls, documentation, and ownership standards
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Operations, IT, Data Engineering, and Program teams to deliver shared enterprise outcomes
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts, risks, and design trade-offs in clear, business-focused language
  • Ability to prioritize analytics and data work based on business impact, risk exposure, and sustainability, not just delivery speed
  • Capability to support enterprise analytics modernization initiatives, including migration from legacy reporting tools and enablement of self-service analytics

Our commitment to your success is enhanced by our competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package including paid time off, medical, dental, vision, 401(k) and disability benefits. We work to maintain a positive environment for our employees, where people can learn and grow with the company. Essent is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
