Job description

OPERATIONS SUPERINTENDENT – FIELD OPERATIONS (Reno, NV)
Teklus Construction | Full-Time | $80,000–$85,000/year | In-Person

Teklus Construction, a Reno-based, Veteran-Owned & Veteran-Operated general contractor, is hiring an Operations Superintendent to lead shift-level field operations for our Dugout Operations project.

As the senior Teklus representative on site during your shift, you'll own overall accountability for safe, efficient, high-quality execution — directing personnel, coordinating with client representatives and trade partners, and making real-time operational calls on sequencing, manpower, and method.

WHY THIS ROLE
- Senior, client-facing leadership role with full shift accountability and real-time decision authority
- Direct path to mentor and develop Operations Leads and Technicians
- Shift differential pay available for 2nd and 3rd shift
- Full benefits: 401(k), medical/dental/vision, life insurance, PTO

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Shift Leadership & Client Coordination
- Direct overall shift operations, including initial tarp installation, ongoing tarp activities, and door-access support
- Serve as senior on-shift point of contact with client representatives, trade partners, and authorized escort personnel
- Lead the shift's participation in daily logistics briefings; align the shift plan with project objectives
- Develop and adjust shift schedules, manpower allocations, and support-team deployments across both operational phases
- Make real-time decisions on sequencing, manpower, equipment, and method to meet operational and safety objectives

Conditions & Safety Authority
- Monitor weather, wind, precipitation, and ambient conditions continuously; communicate status to client operations leads
- Enforce wind, temperature, and precipitation constraints; authorize pauses, stand-downs, or method changes as warranted
- Enforce site safety program, stop-work authority, and EHS standards across all on-shift personnel
- Lead immediate response to incidents, equipment failures, and operational disruptions
- Assist with incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation

Reporting, Quality & Team Development
- Ensure shift turnover documentation is complete and clearly communicated to the incoming shift
- Monitor shift operational metrics, quality outcomes, and safety performance; intervene as needed
- Review and approve crew timecards, daily reports, and equipment logs
- Support change order documentation, RFIs, and field directive logging
- Mentor and develop Operations Leads and Technicians; identify high performers and development needs
- Coordinate subcontractor performance and compliance with project requirements

WHAT YOU BRING
Required:
- 5+ years of construction, heavy industrial, or material handling supervisory experience, including 2+ years as a Superintendent or comparable role
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction certification
- First Aid, CPR, and AED certification
- Demonstrated leadership of multi-person crews (direct and indirect reports)
- Strong knowledge of construction means and methods and safety standards
- Proficiency with scheduling/reporting tools (Procore, Primavera, or MS Project) and Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license

Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field
- STSC, CHST, or comparable safety certification
- Authorized OSHA Outreach Trainer
- Experience managing 24/7 operations and shift transitions
- Prior experience supervising tarping, fall protection, or access door operations

SHIFT AVAILABILITY (24/7 coverage — all 3 shifts hiring)
- 1st Shift (Day): 6:00 AM – 2:00 PM
- 2nd Shift (Swing): 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM
- 3rd Shift (Night): 10:00 PM – 6:00 AM

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Lift up to 50 lbs regularly (75 lbs occasionally); stand, walk, climb, and work at heights and in confined spaces with proper protection; work outdoors in all weather conditions; rotating shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
