Overview

***This position is physically located in the Marshall Islands in support of LOGCAP***

The Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist (CRNA) provides anesthesia care, including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative management, in support of medical operations under the LOGCAP / V2X program. The CRNA delivers safe, high-quality anesthesia services in collaboration with physicians, nurses, and allied health personnel in a Military Treatment Facility (MTF) or equivalent healthcare environment.


Responsibilities

***This is a short term 6 month assignment***

This position description is subject to change at any time as needed to meet the requirements of the program or company.

  • Administer and monitor anesthesia for patients undergoing surgical, obstetric, or procedural interventions, including:
  • General anesthesia
  • Neuraxial and regional anesthesia
  • Monitored Anesthesia Care (MAC)
  • Perform preoperative patient assessments and develop anesthesia care plans.
  • Monitor patient vital signs, airway, and physiological status throughout anesthesia care.
  • Respond to anesthesia-related emergencies and provide advanced life support interventions.
  • Maintain accurate anesthesia records in compliance with regulatory, MTF, and contract requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and professional development programs.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize perioperative care.
  • Maintain readiness to provide anesthesia services in deployed, remote, or austere environments.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • Minimum Qualifications: Education/Certifications: One year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.
  • Education/Experience Requirements:
    • Graduate of an accredited Baccalaureate of Science in Nursing (BSN) program.
    • Completion of an approved course in Nurse Anesthesia acceptable to HQ USAF/SG.
    • Master’s degree in Nursing Anesthesia from an accredited program is required.
  • Licensure/Certification:
    • Current, active, valid, and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in at least one U.S. state, DC, U.S. Commonwealth, or territory.
    • Current certification from the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).
    • Must maintain licensure and certification in good standing throughout employment.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 36 months post-training experience delivering and monitoring all types of anesthesia (general, neuraxial, regional, and MAC).
    • Meet CEU requirements of 40 CEUs every two years, as accepted by the AANA Council on Recertification.
  • Life Support Training:
    • Maintain current certifications in:
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)
    • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
    • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
    • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
    • All certifications must remain current and valid throughout employment.
  • Skills
    • Expertise in anesthesia techniques, pharmacology, and patient monitoring.
    • Ability to perform under high-stress or emergency situations.
    • Strong clinical judgment, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication and collaboration within multidisciplinary teams.
    • Ability to function independently in austere, deployed, or resource-limited settings.
  • Working Conditions:
    • The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
    • None. The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work.)
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Light work. Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
    • Work may require heavy lifting, stooping, climbing, prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, and working with or in areas where a potential could exist for exposure to physical, chemical, or biological agents.
    • Employee use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required for some situations. PPE includes, but is not limited to, head, foot, torso, respiratory, vision, and hearing protective devices.
    • Must comply with all Fire and Safety Regulations and post policies.
