Job description
We are seeking an experienced Emergency Medicine Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for a locum tenens assignment at a well-established community hospital in Alton, Illinois. This is a high-volume emergency department with strong physician support and a collaborative care model.
Facility Details
- Hospital Beds: ~300
- Emergency Department Beds: ~25
- Annual ED Volume: ~40,000 visits
- Trauma Designation: Level II
- EMR: Epic
- Specialty Backup: Full range including Cardiology, Neurology, Orthopedics, General Surgery, and ICU support
Staffing Model
- 24/7 physician coverage
- Advanced Practice Provider coverage across multiple shifts
- Team-based environment with strong support staff
Clinical Responsibilities
- Evaluate and treat patients across all acuity levels
- Perform procedures within scope (laceration repair, I&D, splinting, etc.)
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests
- Collaborate closely with supervising physicians and specialists
- Participate in codes and emergency response as needed
Requirements
- Board Certified NP or PA
- Active Illinois license (or ability to obtain quickly)
- DEA required
- ACLS, BLS required (PALS preferred)
- Minimum 1–2 years of Emergency Medicine experience preferred
