The division treats children with conditions including:
- Acute and chronic kidney disease
- Kidney failure
- Hypertension
- Nephrotic syndrome
- Lupus nephritis
- Kidney stones
- Dialysis-dependent renal disease
- Pediatric kidney transplantation
The program provides both inpatient and outpatient care and works collaboratively with Pediatric Urology, Transplant Surgery, and other pediatric specialties.
Dialysis & Renal Replacement Therapy
Physicians should be comfortable supporting a sophisticated pediatric renal replacement program.
Clinical capabilities include:
- Acute and chronic hemodialysis
- Acute and chronic peritoneal dialysis
- Continuous renal replacement therapy
- Inpatient dialysis
- Outpatient hemodialysis
- Home peritoneal dialysis support
The program maintains dedicated pediatric peritoneal dialysis and hemodialysis resources, including family training, nutrition and social-service support.
The children's hospital also reports specialized capability with CARPEDIEM, a renal replacement platform designed for very small pediatric patients, and states that it was only the second U.S. hospital trained and proficient in its use.

The Pediatric Nephrology team works in conjunction with transplant specialists to support children throughout the kidney transplant continuum.
The program includes coordination of:
- Pre-transplant renal management

The pediatric program works with the Division of Solid Organ Transplantation at the adjoining academic medical center, which is recognized as a UNOS transplant center.

The broader children's hospital provides access to an extensive pediatric specialty network including Critical Care, Cardiology, Gastroenterology, Hospital Medicine, Infectious Disease, Neurology, Pulmonology, Rheumatology, Pediatric Surgery, Urology, and Transplant Surgery.
