Job description

Nuclear Medicine Technologist

The Nuclear Medicine Technologist will perform a wide variety of routine and advanced imaging procedures. They will provide support for other imaging technologists as needed. The technologist will help facilitate smooth and efficient patient flow. Flexibility is required as the technologist may work other shifts or locations as needed. The technologist must be able to troubleshoot basic maintenance and participate in quality assurance. They will resolve issues related to image processing and the image archiving system. Participation in ongoing education, safety, and technical advances within their scope of licensure is expected. The technologist will adhere to and maintain the expected imaging competencies as outlined by management. Clienttion, personnel, and patient safety measures must be observed. Clienttion safety protocols must be maintained while handling radionuclides and pharmaceuticals used in the department. Daily logs and periodic tests must be completed as required by their license. Behavior and communication skills must align with the organization's mission and values.

Responsibilities include meeting expectations of applicable competencies, demonstrating adherence to core values, maintaining consistency with administrative and departmental policies, upholding professionalism, reliability, and confidentiality, promoting staff growth and development, and assisting radiologists and referring physicians to promote exceptional physician satisfaction. All duties must be performed in a manner that protects patient confidentiality. Patient assessment and care methods must be adapted to accommodate each patient's unique needs. Compliance with all policies, procedures, and standards of care is required. The technologist will perform examinations and procedures needed to assist in patient throughput. Flexibility in working other shifts or locations may be required. Completed exams must be scanned and stored correctly in PACS. The technologist must follow PACS downtime procedures as a PACS Superuser. They will troubleshoot and report any equipment malfunctions to the appropriate personnel. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
