Perioperative Nursing - Registered Nurse Circulator

Job Title: Perioperative Nursing - Registered Nurse Circulator

Location: Hermiston, Oregon

Schedule: 8:00AM - 5:00PM x 5

Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension

Pay Rate: $68 - $74/hr

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a Perioperative Registered Nurse for a temporary assignment in Hermiston, Oregon. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Responsibilities for a Perioperative Registered Nurse:

• Accept responsibility for the direction, control, and planning of activities

• Make evaluations and decisions based on measurable or verifiable criteria

• Work independently as a perioperative registered nurse specializing in intraoperative surgical experience

• Protect the patient from injury caused by extraneous objects and chemical, electrical, laser, mechanical, and thermal sources

• Perform accounting procedures to protect the patient from unintended retained surgical items

• Perform interventions to ensure the patient's procedure is performed on the correct site, side, and level

• Manage patient specimens according to organizational policy and procedures

• Communicate the patient's status to relevant parties throughout the continuum of care

• Administer medications safely and correctly

• Perform interventions to maintain the patient's wound and tissue perfusion at or above baseline levels

• Perform interventions to maintain the status of the patient's genitourinary, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal, endocrine, respiratory, cardiovascular, and neurological systems and fluid, electrolyte, and acid-base balances at or above baseline levels

• Perform interventions to protect the patient from surgical site infection

• Protect the patient's rights, dignity, and privacy

• Provide age-specific, culturally competent, ethical care within legal standards of practice

• Provide consistent and comparable care regardless of the setting

• Document nursing care accurately, completely, and legibly

• Collaborate effectively with other disciplines as applicable

• Use problem-solving and conflict resolution skills to foster effective work relationships with team members

• Maintain required competencies

• Pursue professional growth and participate in a professional organization

• Act as a patient advocate and maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information

• Participate in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position

• Float to other departments where qualified to perform patient care as needed

• Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency or composure

• Recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality

• Convey empathy and compassion to those experiencing pain, grief, or trauma

• Relate to others in a manner that creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation

• Communicate effectively and therapeutically with people from every socioeconomic background

• Incorporate service excellence in customer relations in daily activities

• Participate in on-call rotation for the Surgery Unit on a regularly scheduled basis

• Perform other related duties as assigned
