Job Summary: Responsible for maintaining Hotel facilities in safe operating conditions through maintaining a preventive maintenance program, documenting information, and resolving immediate operational and/or safety concerns.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Inspects facilities, systems and component machinery (electrical, HVAC, plumbing, security, etc.) for the purpose of identifying potential repairs and providing an ongoing program of preventive maintenance.
  • Performs general routine maintenance of hotel, administrative offices, Pool, Casino and other buildings as necessary or instructed. Monitors and notes building conditions on a daily basis & develops a timeline to implement repairs with Supervisors approval.
  • Upholds the quality standards for the department.
  • Designs systems/projects for the purpose of implementing new layouts.
  • Requests quotations for the purpose of providing cost information, purchasing and securing items.
  • Repairs systems requiring the skills of maintenance trades (i.e. electrical, HVAC, plumbing, security, carpentry, painting, locksmith and welding, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in safe, comfortable operating condition.
  • Installs machinery and equipment requiring skilled maintenance trades (i.e. electrical, HVAC, plumbing, security, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining facilities in a safe, comfortable and operating condition.
  • Transports various items (e.g. equipment, supplies, etc.) for the purpose of providing materials needed at job sites to complete tasks.
  • Responds to guests' room needs in a timely, professional manner; works closely with Front Desk staff to ensure communication regarding these requests.
  • Greets all guests and Team Members in a friendly, open manner.
  • Conducts oneself in a positive and professional manner, acting as a role model for all Team Members.
  • Maintain knowledge of all current and upcoming promotions and events at Odawa Casino Resort.
  • Maintains confidentiality and respect for guest privacy while providing maintenance services in occupied rooms.
  • Responds to emergency situations (e.g. facility damage, roof leaks, etc.) for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
  • Coordinates with other staff for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficiently.
  • Procures equipment, supplies and materials utilizing OCR's purchasing procedures for the purpose of maintaining availability of required items and completing jobs efficiently.
  • Mows, trims, plants and waters grounds as required.
  • Assist with load in of guest baggage in regards to bus group's arrival and departure as required.
  • Adhere to regulatory, safety, departmental and company policies and procedures.
  • Attend all meetings as required.
  • Complete all required training satisfactorily.
  • Maintain the highest level of confidentiality at all times.
  • Work at other properties as needed.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned within the scope of the position.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Three to four (3-4) years of prior job related experience, in one or more of the building trades, with increasing levels of responsibility, construction, and general maintenance.
  • Must have a valid Michigan Driver's License and be insurable through our insurance carrier. There will be occasional out-of-town and local in-town travel required as well as frequent traveling between buildings.
  • Must read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Must have basic math skills.
  • Must be able to read and interpret plans, blueprints and/or schematics, and perform basic math to calculate measurements, quantities, etc. for use of cleaning agents and chemicals.
  • Must be able to estimate time requirements of jobs and prioritize appropriately.
  • Knowledge of methods and use of materials, tools and equipment used in crafts, appropriate building codes, standards for safe use of equipment.
  • Must be able to understand and use Material Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Must pass a pre-employment physical as this position requires the ability to stand and walk for extended periods, bend, stoop, extend arms overhead, and carry weight up to 80 pounds or more.
  • Must be able to work well and tactful with both internal and external guests and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to work independently on a team with minimal supervision.
  • Must be flexible with shifts and days off with the ability to work overtime, weekends, holidays, special events, etc., as needed.
  • You may be required to pass a skills assessment test to determine if you meet the minimum qualifications of the position.
  • Exposure to loud and continual noise levels and a smoke filled environment.
  • Must be able to obtain a gaming license in accordance to the regulations established by the LTBB Gaming Regulatory Commission, and be able to serve in the position under any other applicable law.
