Job Description
Performs non-destructive testing (NDT) on materials, manufactured items, and components. Inspects metallic, non-metallic, and composite materials, parts, and assemblies for defects using automated and manual NDT methods including ultrasound, infrared thermography, radiography, penetrant, magnetic particle, eddy current, and visual testing. Reads and interprets technical procedures and work instructions to conduct evaluations for acceptance/rejection of hardware/products. Provides other technical support for all LM Space programs and sites. Works primarily with a team but also works independently to perform day-to-day tasks. Additionally, works with remote teams of NDT personnel. Supports program-required inspections during off-shifts, sometimes with short notice, to ensure program hardware production is on-schedule. Upon starting in your new role, your manager and senior NDT engineers will help you develop a plan to acquire and maintain multiple LM Space NDT Level II certifications per NAS-410.
The primary focus of this role is to provide non-destructive inspection support to the composites shop. Common articles include solid laminates, honeycomb panels, and secondary bonds (both metallic and composite). You will support inspections throughout the entire build process such as post-curing, post-machining, pre and post-proofing, as well as inspecting any damage/incidents and research and development.
Basic Qualifications
• High School diploma, or equivalent experience/combined education,
• Additional specialized technical training equivalent to a technical Associate's degree and/or demonstrated ability to perform assigned technical/para-engineering tasks
• Minimum of 3 years of technical experience in either NDT or in Aerospace manufacturing (or a combination of)
• Experience/knowledge of the ultrasonic and/or infrared thermographic testing methods
• Candidate must provide proof of any formal and OJT hours for the method he/she is applying, if previously held
• Experience with American Welding Society (AWS), American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), MIL-STDs, and/or ASTM International Standards
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the Ability to acquire/maintain a Security Clearance (Secret Level)
Desired skills
• Possession of AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
• Experience, including formal classroom education and on-the-job training, in any of the following methods: UT, IRT, PT, or MT
• Basic knowledge of composite materials and layup processes
• Active Security Clearance (Secret Level)
• Familiar and experience with Microsoft Office products

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $56,600 - $99,705. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
Premium Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $65,000 - $108,330. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only.
