The Work:
The Senior Field Engineer (Simulator Technician) will support the Combat Rescue Helicopter (CRH) Training Systems program at Kirtland Air Force Base, providing advanced-level maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of Weapons Systems Trainers (WSTs) and Avionics Desktop Trainers (AVDTTs), along with associated subsystems.
This position serves as a senior technical leader within the maintenance team, responsible for ensuring system availability, reliability, and performance in alignment with contractual requirements, including maintaining a minimum 95% availability rate to support mission-critical training operations.
• Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance on CRH training devices, specifically WSTs and AVDTTs, including hardware, software, and networked systems.
• Lead fault isolation and root cause analysis across simulator subsystems (visuals, avionics, IOS, computing environments, and network infrastructure).
• Support installation, integration, and verification of software updates (e.g., OFP loads) and hardware modifications.
• Ensure accurate and timely documentation of maintenance actions in accordance with AFTO Form 781 series and program requirements.
• Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and on-the-job training to junior field engineers and technicians.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable technical orders, cybersecurity requirements, and safety standards.

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in simulator maintenance, avionics, IT systems, or related technical field.
• Active CompTIA Security+ certification is required and must be held at time of hire.
• Strong troubleshooting experience across electrical, electronic, and computer-based systems.
• Demonstrated hands-on experience with IT/computer systems, including Windows and/or Linux environments, system administration fundamentals, and basic networking.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and technical orders.
• Experience using test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal analyzers.
• Familiarity with maintenance documentation systems and data tracking (e.g., AFTO forms, maintenance logs).
Desired skills
• Experience supporting military flight simulators or training systems (WST, AVDTT, or similar platforms preferred).
• Knowledge of Distributed Mission Operations (DMO) environments.
• Experience with software installation, configuration management, and system baselining.
• Understanding of cybersecurity practices within DoD environments (STIGs, RMF, etc.).
• Experience analyzing system logs, databases, and network performance.
• Strong attention to detail with emphasis on data accuracy (MTBF and maintenance metrics).

Work Schedule Information
Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
National Pay Statement
Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $73,800 - $130,180. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
Benefits offered: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, Long-Term Disability, 401(k) match, Flexible Spending Accounts, EAP, Education Assistance, Parental Leave, Paid time off, and Holidays.
(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.
Premium Pay Statement
