Job description

Standard Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Network Engineer to design, implement, and maintain our mission critical network and server infrastructure that supports Aircrew Training Devices (ATDs) and Learning Management Systems (LMS). The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in network and server administration, extensive experience with LMS platforms, and a strong record of delivering reliable, secure solutions in a regulated environment. This individual contributor role will work closely with cross functional teams, vendors, and stakeholders to ensure optimal system performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.

The ability to travel (CONUS & OCONUS) and the willingness to work alternate work shifts (when necessary) is required. Key Responsibilities 1. Network & Server Administration Develop, document, and enforce policies for the operation of network and server platforms (VMware vSphere/vCenter, Horizon VDI, Windows Server, Red Hat Linux).

Perform day to day administration, patching, capacity planning, and performance tuning. 2. Solution Design & Implementation Architect and deploy networking solutions for training delivery networks, development environments, and ATDs.

Create detailed schematics, hardware/software specifications, and implementation plans aligned with business needs and compliance requirements. 3. Troubleshooting & Support Diagnose and resolve complex issues involving network devices, VDI services, LMS content delivery, and ATD connectivity.

Partner with vendors for advanced problem resolution and escalation. 4. Reporting & Analytics Design custom reports and dashboards to monitor network health, security posture, and service levels.

Analyze data to recommend process improvements and document outcomes. 5. Vendor & License Management Track and maintain vendor licenses, support agreements, and renewal schedules.

Evaluate vendor solutions for fit with mission requirements. 6. Research & Technology Evaluation Stay current on emerging networking, virtualization, and LMS technologies.

Conduct proof of concepts and produce recommendations for adoption. 7. Quality Assurance Execute QA checks on routine and specialized tasks, ensuring adherence to standards and audit requirements.

8. Collaboration & Communication Liaise with program managers, instructional designers, and end users to gather requirements and provide status updates. Deliver clear technical presentations and documentation for both technical and non technical audiences.

Basic Qualifications Education: Associate's degree or 5+ years of progressive network engineering experience. Experience: 6+ years in network administration (Cisco routing, switching, security, wireless). 3+ years of experience managing or coordinating multi-disciplinary projects.

Technical Proficiency: VMware vSphere/vCenter, Horizon VDI, Cisco ecosystem, Palo Alto firewalls, Windows Server/Client OS, Red Hat Linux). Security: Ability to obtain DoD 8570 IAT LevelII or III certification (Security+, CASP, CISSP) within 90days of start date. Desired Skills Industry certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA/CCNP, VMware VCP, Microsoft MCSE, Red Hat RHCE, Nutanix NCA)

Familiarity with Aircrew Training System business processes. Knowledge of instructional design principles and e learning best practices. Strong analytical mindset, rapid learner of new technologies.

Excellent written and verbal communication; confident presenter. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). 5+ years supporting Aircrew Training Devices or comparable flight simulation systems.
