Their role also involves managing project timelines, budgets, communication between stakeholders, and quality assurance processes throughout the localization lifecycle.

What are some typical challenges a localization project manager faces when coordinating multilingual projects?

A Localization Project Manager often encounters challenges such as managing tight deadlines across multiple time zones, ensuring consistent quality and terminology across languages, and aligning expectations between clients, translators, and internal teams. At Duolingo, you'll join a team that cares about finding innovative solutions to complex technical problems, running countless experiments (300+ at a time!) with our massive user base to make data-driven decisions, and educating our users and employees alike. You'll have limitless learning opportunities, mentorship and collaboration with world-class minds, and a variety of projects with large scopes - while doing work that's both fun and meaningful.

Join our life-changing mission to develop education for our half a billion (and growing!) learners around the world.

About the role...

Join Duolingo's Localization team within Scaling Operations to turn complex, high-volume localization work into durable, low-touch systems that scale across our 30+ UI languages. You'll own the end-to-end programs that bring promising product ideas into long-term, scalable operations, improving launch speed, quality, and efficiency. Working closely with Product, Engineering, Design, Marketing, and language partners, you will help build the systems that keep localization in lockstep with Duolingo's growth.

  You will...

  • Drive automation and system improvements to scale from 0-to-1 and beyond, leveraging technology to make localized content production simpler, more repeatable, and more transparent
  • Own the metrics for your vertical to improve strategy, decision-making, and prioritization
  • Cultivate relationships with key partners (marketing, product, design, engineering) to develop a localization strategy and roadmap for your area; develop and socialize best practices and ways of working
  • Establish workflows and tooling that increase localization throughput and quality across our system.

  You have...

  • Demonstrated experience crafting localization strategy and systems for new features and experiences, in collaboration with product, design, and engineering partners
  • A track record of building and leading localization programs in a cross-functional consumer app environment
  • Tech-savviness. You are proficient in managing and scaling workloads using technology, including AI, CMSs, and CAT tools
  • Excellent communication skills; you influence without authority and align diverse stakeholders to drive decisions
  • Comfort defining goals and metrics and translating insights into actionable engineering requirements and scalable workflow specifications

  Exceptional candidates will have...

  • Hands-on experience in localization quality frameworks and ecosystems
  • Familiarity with internationalization engineering concepts such as Unicode handling and message format in consumer apps
  • Experience supporting international product growth in emerging or high-complexity language markets
