What is a localization project coordinator?

Localization Project Coordinators are professionals responsible for managing and overseeing the process of adapting content, products, or services for different languages and cultures. They coordinate between various teams such as translators, editors, and developers to ensure projects are delivered on time and meet quality standards. These coordinators handle scheduling, resource allocation, communication, and troubleshooting throughout the localization process. Their role is crucial in ensuring that localized materials are accurate, culturally appropriate, and aligned with client or company requirements.

How does a localization project coordinator typically collaborate with translators and other team members throughout a project?

A Localization Project Coordinator acts as the main point of contact between clients, translators, editors, and other stakeholders. They are responsible for assigning translation tasks, clarifying project requirements, and ensuring deadlines are met. Coordinators often facilitate communication to resolve linguistic or technical queries, track project progress, and provide feedback to team members. This role requires strong organizational and interpersonal skills to successfully manage multiple projects and coordinate efforts across different time zones and cultural backgrounds.

Strong performers can take on increasing scope over time.

You can work from San Francisco, CA; Irvine, CA; Seattle, WA.

You Will:
  • Manage end-to-end localization into 29 languages, including launches that require creative asset localization, terminology building and testing
  • Monitor continuous localization operations while identifying and implementing opportunities for improvement.
  • Run and evolve localization quality processes: coordinate testing, build LQA workflows and propose improvements based on data.
  • Monitor and improve translation quality output by developing and maintaining linguistic assets
  • Influence upstream content operations for seamless, context-rich translations.
  • Build localization metrics reports (turnaround, quality scores, cost per word)
You Have:
  • 5+ years of localization project/program management experience
  • Experience managing stakeholders and cross-organizational dependencies
  • Experience with enterprise localization tools, translation management platforms  (Smartling, memoQ, Phrase or similar), and developing and maintaining linguistic assets and workflows
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication
  • Native speaker of one additional language
Bonus Points
  • An analytical mindset, with the ability to visualize data, connect the dots, and turn localization insights into decisions that drive business and tooling outcomes.
  • Native French, German, Chinese or Japanese preferred
  • Experience designing and implementing scalable localization processes and technical automation
  • Track record of building localization programs from scratch or through transformation
  • Experience evaluating MT/LLM quality in production workflows
  • Solid understanding of localization metrics and data manipulation
Perks
  • Medical, Dental, Vision & Disability Insurance
  • 401(k)
  • Maternity & Parental Leave
  • Flexible PTO
  • Amazon Employee Discount
