Job description

Job Title: Radiologic Technologist

Location: RWJUH Rahway Hospital

Pay Range: $41.15 - $54.09 per hour

The compensation offered to the candidate selected for the position will depend on several factors, including the candidate's educational background, skills and professional experience.

Job Overview:

The primary function of the Mammography Technologist is to perform diagnostic mammograms, breast biopsies and other exams and procedures typically related to breast imaging.

This position is responsible for assuring patients receive a high quality mammography exam at the lowest possible radiation dose exam in accordance with the standards of MQSA/FDA, American College of Radiology and NJDEP.

The Mammography Technologist will perform the necessary routine QA duties, as assigned, as well as the clerical duties and data entry needed to assure proper patient letter streams for exam results and follow-up patient notifications.

This position requires a high level of compassion, sensitivity and communication skills to successfully allay the fears of the patient and to accurately answer questions related to the exam.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • HS Diploma or GED
  • Graduate from an accredited Radiologic Technologist program

Certifications and Licenses Required:

  • NJ Radiologic Technologist license
  • ARRT 
  • NJ Certified X-Ray Technologist

Scheduling Requirements:

  • Shift working, Tuesday and Wednesday (16 hrs/week)
  • Part-Time (PT)

Essential Functions:

  • Performs mammographic examinations in an exemplary manner
  • Instructs patients in all aspects of the exam and what to expect as follow-up communications
  • Consults with a radiologist with regard to positioning and image quality
  • Assists Radiologists with biopsy and localization procedures
  • Trains and mentors other mammography technologists with less experience
  • Performs QA activities and maintains accurate records in accordance with governing agencies
  • Assists with annual MQSA inspections and ACR accreditation
  • Consults with patients in person or via telephone to explain additional views or additional imaging
  • Performs clerical duties such as placing orders for exams and tracking the exams to completion
  • Enters patient history information accurately
  • Enters findings into mammography information system to generate follow-up letters and tracks that all patients are followed
  • Assures that exams are not held for an unreasonable period of time in the Radiologist interpretation queue by reporting delays to radiologists or manager
  • Performs exams in other modalities (i,e, CT, X-ray, Special Procedures, if qualified)
  • Transports patients when deemed necessary
  • Maintains order and cleanliness of Mammography Room and equipment
  • Exercises excellent customer service using principles of AIDET
