Position Title: Paint Rework Technician
Department: Paint
Reports to: Paint Supervisor
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Position Summary
The Paint Rework Technician is responsible for preparing, repairing, and refinishing painted surfaces on manufactured products to ensure they meet Harper Industries quality standards. This role performs masking, sanding, surface preparation, paint touch-up, and rework activities while working closely with the Paint and Quality Control teams to ensure a high-quality finished product.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Mask and tape designated areas of products and components to prevent paint overspray
- Sand, smooth, and prepare surfaces requiring paint repair or rework
- Apply paint and touch-up coatings as needed to meet quality standards
- Remove masking materials after Quality Control inspection and approval
- Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with company quality expectations
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
- Communicate effectively with Paint Department personnel and Quality Control team members
- Follow all safety procedures and properly utilize required personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Assist with movement and handling of parts and components as needed
- Support departmental productivity and quality goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Previous paint, surface preparation, manufacturing, or industrial finishing experience preferred but not required
- Ability to use hand and power tools related to sanding, masking, and paint preparation
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
