Job description

Local Delivery Truck Driver – Class A CDL
 
INSTRUCTIONS ON HOW TO APPLY ARE LISTED BELOW THE JOB DESCRIPTION.
 
This position offers a strong hourly wage, full benefits, and a predictable local schedule that gets you home every night. It is with a family-owned established company in the shipping/logistics/manufacturing industries.   This is a full-time, 1st shift, Monday–Friday local driving position, with deliveries generally within the New York area or a 150-mile radius of the greater Philadelphia region.  There is NO overnight work involved here.
 
Overview:
 We're hiring a Local Delivery Truck Driver to operate a tilt bed and, at times, a heavy duty roll back, primarily making deliveries and pickups. This position reports to the Lead Truck Driver. A Class A CDL is required, along with basic knowledge of towing and the ability to operate a cable winch. Rigging, flatbed, or machine hauling experience is a plus. Deliveries may at times be in residential areas or tight quarters, and some deliveries may require adding caster wheels to containers to reposition them into a warehouse.
  • Actively identify, correct, and/or report safety hazards to prevent accidents
  • Secure cargo for transport using slings, chain, and binders
  • Maintain logs of working hours and vehicle service/repair status per applicable state and federal regulations
  • Read bills of lading to determine assignment details
  • Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required
  • Check vehicles to ensure mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order
  • Communicate with customers about care and maintenance of products upon delivery
  • Load flat bed and tilt bed trailers
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting dangerous goods
  • Check all load-related documentation to ensure it is complete and accurate
  • Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles
  • Communicate daily with dispatch and the lead truck driver
  • Lift production objects of up to 50 lbs
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Identify and pursue cost reduction and efficiency/profit improvement opportunities

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Class A CDL license, minimum 2 years of truck driving experience, and a good driving record
  • Pay & schedule: $28/hr–$36/hr, full-time, 1st shift, Monday–Friday, home every night. Ability to pass a drug test and DOT physical is required. Availability to work long hours, weekends, and some holidays if necessary, and the ability to work in all types of weather, are a plus.
