ePRISMS Field Survey / CAD-LiDAR Technician
Job Summary
SYNCADD Systems, Inc. is seeking a full-time ePRISMS Field Survey / CAD-LiDAR Technician. ePRISMS is the Army’s Enterprise solution for space utilization management. It provides
visibility to floor plans, maps, imagery, and readiness data consolidated from multiple Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA) systems.
The ePRISMS Field Survey / CAD-LiDAR Technician will create detailed digital floor plans by using laser scanners and mobile computing tools to accurately survey and dimension buildings and rooms on military installations. Simultaneously, the Technician will record detailed information about each space within the building including such information as how the space is used, the organization/unit using the space, and the number of staff assigned to the space. The Technician will also take photographs of each building. Additionally, the Technician will be responsible for transforming raw LiDAR data into accurate and detailed floor plans, playing a crucial part in our project.
The Field Survey component of this position involves fieldwork that requires the Technician to walk/stand for up to eight (8) hours per day. The Technician will be traveling full-time (7 days/week) and may be deployed for 4-6 weeks per trip. When not deployed, the Technician will provide data production, processing and CAD support, working in a SYNCADD office or from home. The role also entails extensive interaction with military and civilian personnel in a military setting. The Technician should anticipate traveling for a total of 5-8 months per year. All travel expenses will be paid by the company to include a daily per diem for meals.
For the CAD-LiDAR component of this role, the ideal candidate will be willing to learn our business processes, terminology, policies, and regulations, as well as the systems requirements for post-processing of LiDAR point cloud data. The candidate will become proficient using LiDAR vendor software and third-party software to convert point cloud data into floor plans. You will process and analyze point cloud data from mobile LiDAR devices, ensuring data quality and adherence to industry standards. Your expertise will be vital in classifying and filtering point clouds to isolate building structures and interior features and subsequently extracting and digitizing -facility features to create precise 2D and 3D floor plans.
You will work extensively with CAD software (MicroStation or Revit), as well as specialized LiDAR processing software, to convert complex point cloud data into usable floor plans. Quality control will be a key aspect of your role, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of all deliverables.
Candidates should be detail-oriented, fast learners, and be able to make quick yet smart decisions. Prior knowledge of Army business systems or Real Property reporting is preferred but not required. All hardware, software, and training will be provided.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Willingness to learn the business process, terminology, policies and regulations, and systems requirements for proper execution of field surveys.
  • Conduct field surveys using laser dimension tools, LiDAR equipment, CAD software, and other data gathering tools to collect building, occupancy, and space-use information.
  • Validate existing floor plans using a laser measuring device to verify dimensions as noted on the floorplan, and document where discrepancies exist.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity in assigned surveys.
  • Ensure detailed data quality standards are consistently maintained.
  • Interact in a professional manner with military and civilian personnel on a military installation.
  • Process raw LiDAR data to generate accurate point cloud datasets, ensuring data quality and adherence to industry standards
  • Perform stitching of scans after building surveys are completed
  • Help generate highly accurate floor plans.
  • Extract facility features from LiDAR point clouds and convert them into usable floor plans

Requirements - Skill and/or Experience
  • Due to Federal contract requirements, must be U.S. Citizen and be capable of obtaining a Common Access Card (CAC). Preference given to those who already possess or have possessed a CAC.
  • Must have a valid U.S. Passport or be able to obtain one within a month.
  • Ability to travel full-time for 4-6 weeks at a time.
  • Knowledge of the Army Real Property process and Category Codes is a plus.
  • Experience using the Leica BLK2Go LiDAR scanner and Cyclone Register 360 is preferred.
  • Experience with stitching point cloud data is preferred.
  • Be physically able to walk or stand for 6-8 hours per day.
  • Be able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Be able to quickly learn and adapt to new circumstances.
  • Be a reliable team player and have a can-do attitude.
  • Possess strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Offer problem solving skills with the ability to analyze situations, identify existing or potential problems, and recommend solutions.
  • Prior military experience is preferred
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Proficient with MicroStation or Revit with the ability to become proficient in MicroStation
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Knowledge of Army structure and military protocols preferred
  • Digitize and edit floor plans accurately and efficiently
  • Manage files, drawings, and maps for report output in various formats
  • Adhere to quality control procedures and maintain documented standard operating procedures
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure data accuracy and project completion
  • Create and maintain documentation
Qualifications and Skills
  • Certification or Associate’s Degree in Computer Aided Design and one (1) year of relevant experience in Architectural drafting
