Job description

POSITION SUMMARY: The HazMat Retail Driver will be responsible to operate class B trucks in a Less Than Truckload (LTL) capacity to pick up customer retail waste from retail stores, pharmacies and/or industrial sites. Driver will sort customer waste, verify that the waste is packaged, labeled and marked properly, and secured for transport to a temporary storage or treatment facility. They will provide excellent customer service through follow up and ongoing communication while on site and maintain an electronic log and documentation of manifests and work orders. They provide a variety of duties that comply with government regulations and procedures. This role operates Monday through Friday with variable scheduling that may include 3-4 overnight shifts per week based on customer locations, routes, and delivery requirements. Drivers can expect most weekends and holidays off, with only occasional exceptions for critical business needs.

PRINCIPLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Understand and utilize company technology, such as mobile applications and software to track waste collection, packaging and disposal.

  • Deliver a high level of customer service through clear communication and professionalism onsite.

  • Maintains vehicle log.

  • Maintains documentation of manifests and work orders.

  • Performs DOT pre-trip and post trip inspections in accordance with company and DOT regulations .

  • Understands DOT regulations as they pertain to hazardous waste collection, packaging and transportation including but not limited to accurate placarding, loading securement, HAZMAT load segregation, and labeling.

  • Assists in maintaining good housekeeping at facility and on grounds.

  • Functions as technician on lab pack and field service projects.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical tasks associated with loading and unloading materials.

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.

  • Can self-motivate to achieve daily workload targets.

  • CDL Hazmat endorsement preferred.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A valid class B commercial driver's license with an MVR that meets Company policy standards.

  • Ability to pass 40-hour HAZWOPER Training upon hire.
