Senior Consultant (Public Sector Consulting)

MGO is seeking an experienced Senior Consultant to join our Public Sector Advisory Services team. In this role, you will deliver advisory and internal audit projects for state and local government and public sector entities. You will lead day-to-day project activities, perform data-driven analysis, and contribute to high-quality client deliverables while mentoring junior team members.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and execute public sector advisory and internal audit engagements
  • Conduct client interviews, walkthroughs, data analysis, testing, and research
  • Document results in workpapers and draft clear, insightful reports
  • Manage project tasks to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery
  • Assist with staff development and supervision
  • Collaborate effectively with clients and engagement teams
  • Participate in training, conferences, and firm initiatives
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field
  • 3+ years of public sector experience in public accounting, audit, or internal controls
  • Certification preferred (CPA, CIA, CFE, PMP, etc.), or willingness to pursue
  • Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills
  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in high-pressure environments
  • Willingness to travel (10–20%)
