Job description

Job Title: Class A Delivery Driver (Local Delivery)
Location: Des Moines, IA

Join Loffredo Fresh Foods as a Class A Delivery Driver based out of our Des Moines Headquarters. We are a local, family-owned food and produce distributor that has proudly served the Midwest region for over 130 years. We distribute to 11 different states across our 5 locations. Loffredo Fresh Foods believes that our employees are the key to a successful future. We are committed to attracting a team that is passionate, innovative, and committed to meeting our customer’s needs. 

We are seeking a Shuttle Driver to primarily support operations in the evening. This role’s primary responsibility is transporting product between our Des Moines Headquarters to our other branches in the Midwest. This is a home daily position. This position plays an important role in keeping product moving efficiently between facilities to support distribution needs. The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, and flexible. We are looking for someone who can also assist with branch-to-branch shuttles and provide coverage where needed.

Pay: $25 to $28 Dependent on Experience 

Hours: 

  • Position 1 
    • Start Time: Between 3 AM and 5 PM 
    • Days Working: Monday - Friday, Occasional Saturday
    • Shuttling a trailer between DSM and Cedar Rapids, few freight touch delivery stops along the way, home daily

  • Position 2
    • Start time: Between 5 PM and 8 PM
    • Days working: Monday - Friday, Occasional Weekend
    • Shuttling Trailers between DSM and our Midwest branches, occasional backhauls or dock stops along the way, home daily

What we look for:

  • Valid interstate eligible driver's license, 21+ or older
  • Access to reliable and punctual transportation
  • Pass a background check (including sex offender registry) 
  • Willing to recertify DOT Med Card and pass a DOT drug screen
  • Able to pass a Motor Vehicle Check (MVR) and Clearinghouse full query
  • Must be able to read and write English
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in delivery orders
  • Must be comfortable driving tractor trailers

What you’ll do:

  • SAFETY FIRST. Must be able to safely operate vehicles at all times and follow all safety guidelines
  • Must be comfortable driving and unloading in varying weather conditions. 
  • Deliver and communicate with customers in a professional manner
  • Unload products using a ramp and hand dolly
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. frequently and 75 lbs. occasionally
