Unlike long-haul drivers, they typically work set shifts and return home daily. Familiarity with GPS navigation systems, electronic logging devices (ELDs), and sometimes lift-gate or pallet jack operation is typically required. These competencies are crucial to ensure timely, compliant, and safe deliveries while maintaining positive relationships with customers.

Local Class B drivers often encounter challenges such as navigating congested urban routes, meeting tight delivery schedules, and handling physically demanding tasks like loading and unloading cargo. Building good communication with dispatchers and warehouse staff also helps address unexpected issues quickly.
