Job description

Senior Engineer, Project Engineering

Responsibilities
  • Serve as a member of the project core team and lead the development and execution of the technical scope of work for assigned projects and programs throughout their lifecycle, following Colonial’s project management processes and tools.
  • Identify, contract, and manage external technical resources and lead the technical sub‑team, monitoring progress and reporting to the project manager and core team.
  • Ensure the development, review, and quality of technical deliverables and design documents, as outlined in the Engineering Deliverables by stage.
  • Support the manager and lead the review and update of Colonial’s project management processes, procedures, and tools related to technical aspects of project management.
  • Lead and support project engineering initiatives identified and assigned.
  • Collaborate with internal technical functions such as Engineering, Information Systems, and Measurement, and other core team functional leaders to coordinate technical designs and solutions.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Civil, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or Petroleum) from an accredited college or university; a combination of experience and education may be considered.
  • Ten or more years of engineering experience, with at least seven years in the oil and gas or related industry and five years working on projects in that field.
  • Certified Engineer in Training.
  • Experience on a project team for projects valued at $10million or more.
  • Advanced knowledge of oil and gas codes and standards such as API and CFR Part195.
  • Intermediate knowledge of general industry codes and standards (ANSI, IEEE, ASME, NFPA, NEMA, NESC, PSM).
  • Demonstrated commitment to policies and procedures and a positive example of Colonial’s core values: Respect, Accountability, Innovation, Safety, and Excellence.
  • Self‑motivated with a strong work ethic and a desire for growth within the company.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fifteen or more years of experience in the oil and gas industry, with emphasis on the design and construction of liquid pipelines and terminals, truck loading racks, and blending systems.
  • Five or more years of project management experience, including estimates, schedules, and forecasts.
  • Licensed Professional Engineer and Project Management Professional certification.
  • Proficiency in proven project management practices and processes, including the PMBOK guide knowledge areas.
  • Presentation skills at the executive level.
