Summary
The Rail Loaders are responsible for the loading and unloading of rail cars, preparing the rail cars for loading and unloading, securing the vehicles in the rail car and operating rail loader if assigned.
Responsibilities
  • Perform Rail Loading Operations
    • Drive customer vehicles onto rail cars from staging lines in a safe and efficient manner
    • Prepare vehicles for loading/ unloading
    • Secure vehicles to rail cars by using chains or chocks as required by manufacturer
    • Set-up rail car bridge plates between rail cars
    • Open/close rail car doors
    • Operate loading ramps
    • Check vehicles for damage
    • Various duties as assigned or required to help the facility function in a team environment
    • Ability to react to change and handle other essential tasks as assigned
    • Work with internal and external customers to make sure expectations are exceeded
  • Follow Safety Policies and Procedures
    • Ensure all safety equipment is in place, in accordance with the American Association of Railroads
    • Follow Glovis safety policies and procedures
    • Other duties as assigned

  • Must be OK with working at heights and in confined spaces Required
  • Requires flexibility with schedule including break times as well as working extended hours, weekends, and holidays Required

Education & Experience
  • Must hold a valid state-issued driver's license Required
