Job description

Summary:

FET Variperm specializes in sand control engineering, completion and work-over tools as well as cased hole fishing services. The role of Yard Labouer/Swamper is responsible for assisting loading and unloading trucks, regular yard upkeep and maintenance to ensure that the area is kept organized and orderly according to company procedures and best practices. This position may require periodic forklift operation. Active participation in FET’s HSE program is required as well as, adherence to all company policies and procedures. Special projects and other duties assigned.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Handling of various sizes of oilfield casing, which may include operation of a Loader, Overhead Crane and/or Forklift.
  • Daily inventory management of yard shipping and receiving, pipe allocated to jobs and inventory of completed production.
  • Inventory counts for tubular inventory, reconciling and inputting into Tally.
  • Understand and follow safety and quality programs, including non-conformance and risk reporting
  • Working with senior management, proactively identify, pursue, and successfully implement strategic, operational, and work process improvement opportunities.
  • Updating and tracking equipment logbook, including tracking hours.
  • Ensuring the yard is maintained and organized.
  • Assist with other areas when required.
  • Assist in loading/unloading of pipe deliveries/pick-ups.
  • Stacking/unstacking pipe adhering to strict procedures.
  • Operate basic hand tools and powered hand tools.
  • Work within the company’s QMS policies and practices and recommend improvements, where appropriate.
  • Active participation in FET’s Health, Safety and Environment program.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills/Knowledge

  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Basic math skills and computer skills required.
  • Ability to work efficiently and independently as well as, part of a team.
  • Understanding of working load limits.
  • Knowledge of basic rigging and lifting practices.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Meticulous Attention to detail.

Education

  • Certification in operating forklifts, overhead cranes, loaders and/or other yard equipment preferred.
  • Grade 12 or GED preferred. Additional education past high school would be an asset.

Experience

  • Previous experience with slotted liner would be an asset.
  • Experience working in a pipe yard is preferred.
  • Prior experience operating.
