Job description

Railcar Loader-Buda, TX

Pumps liquid chemicals, liquid petroleum products, and other liquids into or from tank cars, trucks, or barges by performing the following duties. Includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Verifies tank car numbers with loading instructions to ensure accurate placement of cars by crew.
  • Connects ground cable to carry off static electricity.
  • Inspects tank car exterior for leaks or damage.
  • Connects hoses and turns valve to offload product to pipeline.
  • Lowers gauge rod into tank or reads meter to verify specified volume of liquids.
  • Lowers sample bottle into tank for laboratory testing.
  • Copies seal information and attaches placard to tank cars.
  • Seals outlet valves on car.
  • Connects hose to outlet plugs on cars and attaches special fittings, when unloading cars.
  • Tests sample for basic sediment and water content and records reading.
  • Inspects tank car and replaces small defective parts, including pin cards and placards.
  • Monitors nitrogen or compressed air flow.

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Employee must wear required PPE at all times while on site, including H2S monitor, fire resistant clothing, steel toed boots, hard hat and safety glasses.

Current driver's license. Must be able to obtain a TWIC card within (90) days of hire.
