THE OPPORTUNITY
This is a commercial operations leadership role overseeing a 29-driver team - 23 commercial and 6 roll-off - across the Central/Southwest Houston service area, on an early 2 AM-2 PM start. You'll own daily route execution, crew scheduling, and safety compliance in a union environment, while building and developing front load and roll-off crews directly. It's a strong fit for someone with hands-on waste industry experience who wants real P&L-adjacent ownership of a commercial book of business and a competitive base-plus-bonus comp package.
WHAT YOU'LL OWN
- Recruit, interview, hire, train, and discipline all product line personnel
- Schedule commercial and roll-off drivers to ensure full daily route coverage
- Ensure daily completion of driver paperwork - truck reports, driver logs, vehicle inspections
- Monitor customer satisfaction by ensuring daily route completion, container delivery, and resolution of special/missed pickups
- Resolve customer complaints and operational issues as they arise
- Direct collection and disposal activity to best utilize personnel and equipment
- Establish and review productivity standards across each phase of the operation
- Ensure compliance with all CDL driver regulations
- Enter daily productivity data into the operating system
- Maintain supply inventory (gloves, safety equipment, etc.) with Facility/GM authorization
- Promote a proactive safety program - prevent accidents, reduce injuries, and recognize safe performance
- Investigate accidents, complete required paperwork, and run monthly safety meetings and route observations
WHAT YOU BRING
- High school diploma or GED required
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience, OR 1 year as a Environmental Lead Driver
- Hands-on waste industry experience required
- Front load crew experience required
- Roll-off experience required
NICE TO HAVE
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree
- Familiarity with, or comfort working within, a union environment
