Functional Description :
Davis Defense Group, Inc. (DDG) is seeking an Expeditionary Warfare School Distance Education Program (EWSDEP) curriculum Subject Matter Expert (SME) to support the U.S. Marine Corps College of Distance Education and Training (CDET) in Quantico Virginia. This position will support development of onsite and online distance education curriculum for company grade officer Professional Military Education (PME).
Duties and Responsibilities :
  • Adapt resident EWS curriculum into distance education curriculum using the Marine Corps Instructional Systems Design/Systems Approach to Training and Education (MCISD/SATE) curriculum development process, and in accordance with Student Learning Outcomes approved by CG, EDCOM.
  • Revise and update courseware, including all assessments and faculty development materials according to CDET's course development schedules.
  • Maintain and manage the master Learning Management System (LMS) course sites.
  • Create and safeguard course assessments, answer keys, and reference keys electronically.
  • Develop and maintain electronic exam-mapping products demonstrating appropriate linkages between issues for discussion and specific educational objectives and learning outcomes; and assessments and specific educational objectives and learning outcomes.
  • Maintain electronic files and version control of all courseware, curriculum and assessments to include documents, graphics, readings, electronic media and supporting information for the courses.
  • Answer questions from the field on all aspects of the course.
  • Support Faculty Development (FD) by developing recommendations for faculty standards unique to the respective course, and developing, updating and managing course LMS FD sites and course faculty guides.
  • Conduct Institutional Effectiveness/Institutional Research (IE/IR) analysis by analyzing student performance data; conducting test item analyses for course assessment evaluation; analyzing end-of-course comments from students, faculty, commanders and outside stakeholders; preparing and analyzing descriptive statistics and graphical displays of End of Course (EOC) survey data; preparing electronic Course Content Review Board (CCRB) reports; and recommending curriculum changes to the Dean of Academics.
  • Participate in annual MCU faculty development sessions.
  • Teach a minimum of two EWSDEP courses each Academic Year (AY).
  • Attend the annual CDET Faculty workshop (normally 5 consecutive days) at Quantico VA in the summer months.

Required Experience :
  • Marine Air Ground Task Force (MAGTF) experience (active duty or reserve).
  • Experience with and knowledge of all seven Warfighting Functions, with emphasis on Intelligence, Information, Logistics and Force protection.
  • Professional Military Education. Career Level School (CLS) graduate (resident or distance education).
  • Faculty experience, preferably using the Socratic method and with military PME programs/courses.
  • Curriculum development experience.

Desired Experience :
  • Experience in Amphibious operations, Crisis Response and Limited Contingency operations, and Counterinsurgency operations.
  • Current knowledge of USMC Force Design 2030 and Naval Integration initiatives.
  • Experience utilizing wargaming to achieve educational outcomes.
  • Experience with evaluating Generative Artificial Intelligence tools and integrating them into courseware and development processes.
  • Professional Military Education. Intermediate Level School (ILS) and/or Top Level School (TLS) graduate.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS, e.g., Moodle).

Education Requirements :
  • Required: Bachelors Degree
  • Desired: Masters Degree in Military/Strategic Studies or related field
