Job description

The APEX Power Co. Project in Hubbard, TX, currently under Phase 1 construction, is expected to expand to 1.6 GW. It features a diverse mix of generation technologies, including Siemens SGT-800/400 simple cycle turbines, MAN/Everllence 18V51/60G gas reciprocating engines, GE LM6000/LM2500 simple cycle turbines, Pratt & Whitney FT8 simple cycle turbines, and a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS), enabling flexible, reliable power output. Future expansion may include additional GE aero and large frame units (6B, 7FA/7FB/7H) in simple or combined cycle configurations, allowing the plant to efficiently meet varying energy demands while supporting data center grid reliability.

Opportunity Summary

The Maintenance Supervisor at the APEX Power Co. Project will play a critical role in overseeing and supporting the maintenance team during pre-commissioning and operational phases. This position ensures safe, efficient, and reliable performance of equipment across gas turbines, reciprocating engines, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and balance-of-plant systems. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Maintenance Supervisor will provide hands-on leadership, coordinate maintenance activities, support commissioning, and foster a strong safety and compliance culture.

As Maintenance Supervisor, your responsibilities specific to the Pre-Commissioning Phase include the following functions:

  • Assist the Maintenance Manager in onboarding, training, and guiding maintenance personnel to ensure a technically competent and safe pre-commissioning team.
  • Implement staffing schedules and on-call coverage for commissioning, first-fire, and initial operational readiness under the direction of the Maintenance Manager.
  • Support training programs for maintenance personnel on aero-derivative CTs, frame CTs, reciprocating engines, BESS, and balance-of-plant systems.
  • Execute and monitor first-issue maintenance procedures, inspection protocols, and preventive/predictive maintenance guidelines aligned with OEM, EPC, and industry best practices.
  • Participate in system walkdowns, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews (PSSR), first-fire, synchronization, and performance testing to verify equipment reliability and safe commissioning.
  • Assist in creating audit-ready documentation, operational logs, and reporting templates for smooth CCC handover from EPC to Operations.
  • Support setup and configuration of the site CMMS, maintaining asset records, preventive maintenance programs, and work order processes for long-term reliability.
  • Assist in initial commissioning and functional validation of critical systems, including DCS/HMI verification, alarm rationalization, and equipment start/stop sequences.
  • Follow established compliance frameworks for NERC, environmental, safety, and water chemistry programs during pre-commissioning.
  • Coordinate with Operations and Engineering to ensure maintenance procedures, logs, and parts management systems are ready for safe and reliable start-up.

Your scope of responsibility as Maintenance Manager includes the following primary functions:

  • Supervise maintenance personnel to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality completion of work according to established policies, procedures, and technical specifications.
  • Support a strong safety culture by reinforcing Plant Safety Manual requirements, maintaining records, and assisting with safety incentive programs.
  • Execute preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, monitoring equipment performance, identifying issues, and supporting reliability initiatives.
  • Provide day-to-day guidance to maintenance personnel during operations, planned outages, and forced outages, ensuring availability of parts, tools, and services.
  • Maintain accurate CMMS records, including work orders, historical data, and schedules, and assist the Maintenance Manager in planning future work.
  • Collaborate with Operations, Engineering, and NERC coordinators to implement maintenance plans, ensure compliance, and complete assigned tasks efficiently.
  • Oversee warehouse and inventory management, ensuring materials and spare parts are available and properly utilized.
  • Support plant performance initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve reliability, reduce corrective maintenance, and enhance equipment availability.
