The Senior Application Developer – Data & Integration is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting the company’s enterprise data integrations, ETL and ELT pipelines, and workflow automation. This includes data movement and business processes across ERP, WMS, CRM, EDI, DAM, web applications, reporting platforms, and other enterprise systems.

Reporting to the Director of Application Development, this role serves as the lead technical resource for data architecture, enterprise integrations, data pipelines, and workflow automation. The developer will design and propose architectural solutions, guide ongoing technical decisions, maintain technical standards and documentation, and help ensure solutions are secure, scalable, reliable, and maintainable. Significant architectural decisions will be made collaboratively with application development leadership and other stakeholders.

This is a hands-on development role that will support the current Ruby on Rails environment while contributing to future applications and services using React, Node.js, and TypeScript. The successful candidate must also be proficient with LLM-based development agents and able to use them effectively to materially increase development productivity while maintaining code quality, security, and reliability.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the lead technical resource for data architecture, enterprise integrations, ETL and ELT pipelines, and workflow automation.
  • Design and propose data and integration architecture for new initiatives and ongoing system changes.
  • Establish standards for data integration and application development.
  • Maintain architectural documentation, data-flow diagrams, interface specifications, and transformation mappings.
  • Design, build, and maintain reliable ETL and ELT pipelines.
  • Build and maintain integrations across ERP, WMS, CRM, EDI, DAM, reporting platforms, web applications, and other enterprise systems.
  • Develop RESTful APIs, background services, scheduled processes, and event-driven integrations.
  • Design database structures, operational data models, and integration data models.
  • Ensure data integrity, transaction reliability, validation, reconciliation, and error handling.
  • Implement appropriate monitoring, logging, alerting, retry, and recovery processes.
  • Review code and enforce development, security, and quality standards.
  • Contribute to Ruby on Rails, Node.js, React, and TypeScript applications as needed.
  • Use LLM-based development agents to accelerate design, coding, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, and modernization efforts.
  • Provide estimation and technical feasibility analysis.
  • Support Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment pipelines.
  • Work cross-functionally with application development, project management, business owners, reporting teams, infrastructure, and external partners.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • Five or more years of professional application or software development experience
  • Two or more years in a technical leadership or system ownership capacity preferred
  • Strong experience with SQL, relational database design, data modeling, and RESTful APIs
  • Hands-on experience designing and supporting reliable ETL or ELT pipelines, including data transformation, validation, monitoring, error handling, retry, recovery, and reconciliation
  • Experience building and supporting enterprise system integrations
  • Strong experience with JavaScript or TypeScript and at least one server-side application framework
  • Node.js and React experience preferred
  • Ruby on Rails experience preferred for supporting current applications
  • Experience with Boomi, Temporal, Dagster, Kestra or comparable integration, data-pipeline, or workflow-orchestration platforms preferred
  • Experience integrating with ERP, WMS, CRM, EDI, DAM, or similar enterprise systems preferred
  • Experience with automated testing, CI/CD, application monitoring, and production support
  • Demonstrated proficiency using LLM-based development agents to materially improve development productivity while independently reviewing and validating generated work
  • AWS experience preferred
