West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Surgery seek a Liver Transplant Surgeon qualified for appointment at the Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, or Professor rank. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Morgantown, WV.
Duties: The successful candidate will practice in the areas of Liver Transplant Surgery. In addition to providing excellent patient care, the successful candidate will also be actively involved in teaching medical students, residents, and fellowsThis is a unique opportunity to help play a foundational role in the development of a comprehensive liver transplant program within a growing academic medical center. The successful candidate will work closely with surgical and medical leadership to build clinical infrastructure, develop protocols, and establish a culture of excellence, safety, and innovation, including the development of a strong living donor liver transplantation (LDLT) program.
Qualifications: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree or foreign equivalent and be eligible for state medical license. Successful candidate must have completed General Surgery residency program, as well as transplant fellowship program. Successful candidates must be board certified/ eligible in transplant surgery. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment.
The WVU Medicine Transplant Alliance is West Virginia's first and only multi-organ transplant center. WVU Transplant Alliance completed its first heart transplant in 2019 and kidney transplant in 2020. Since then, our team has helped many patients from West Virginia and surrounding regions to navigate complex medical challenges, explore transplant candidacy, and make informed decisions regarding their health.
