Purdue University invites applications for a Senior Administrative Assistant to provide high-level administrative support across a dynamic and collaborative environment. This role supports a combination of individuals, teams, and initiatives within the College of Science, contributing to both daily operations and longer-term priorities.
The Senior Administrative Assistant operates with a high degree of independence, managing a range of non-routine administrative responsibilities. This includes coordinating meetings and events, conducting research and information gathering, preparing reports and presentations, and supporting special projects as needed. The role also drafts and edits correspondence and materials, ensuring clarity and professionalism in communications.
In addition to administrative coordination, this position may assist with monitoring operating budgets, maintaining financial records, and responding to non-routine inquiries from internal and external stakeholders. The ability to exercise sound judgment, prioritize work effectively, and maintain confidentiality is important in this role. Successful candidates will bring strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. This position offers the opportunity to contribute meaningfully to departmental operations while supporting a range of academic and external engagement activities.
This position will support external relations with corporate and industry partnerships, manage stakeholder interactions, and serve as a key liaison to ensure seamless coordination, follow-through, and a positive experience for both internal and external partners by supporting members of the senior leadership team in the College of Science, including the Associate Dean for Research (ADR), the Director of Corporate Relations, and the Chief of Staff.
What We're Looking For
Education and Experience Required:
  • Requires a High School Degree or High School Equivalency (HSE)
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in an administrative support role

Skills Needed:
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills and attention to detail
  • Advanced computer and related software skills to include Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Internet, etc.
  • Drafting, proofreading and editing skills
  • Ability to:
    • handle frequent interruptions, balance multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality
    • collaborate and communicate with individuals at all levels within and external to the university to support department needs
    • interpret policies and procedures to proactively resolve issues or improve processes
    • identify problems and implement or recommend solutions
