Job description

Feeds Operator

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and manage incoming and outgoing broadcast feeds, including satellite, fiber, IP, and streaming sources.
  • Guide remote contribution of guests and field talent, advising on device/camera placement, lighting acoustic environment camera framing, while managing connection stability and other production standards such as backgrounds.
  • Flag to producers any additional challenges with remote guests such as wardrobe, hats or any non-standard appearance concerns.
  • Coordinate feed acquisition, recording, routing, and distribution to support live and recorded broadcasts.
  • Operate broadcast routing, switching, and monitoring equipment to ensure content is delivered to the correct destinations.
  • Verify feed quality, signal integrity, audio levels, and video performance before and during transmission.
  • Troubleshoot routine feed and signal issues and coordinate with engineering staff to resolve technical problems.
  • Maintain communication with master control, production, engineering, and external broadcasters regarding feed schedules and transmission requirements.
  • Record and archive incoming feeds, live events, and programming content as required.
  • Monitor multiple feed sources simultaneously and respond quickly to transmission interruptions or operational issues.
  • Stays abreast of the latest/new technology.
  • Coordinates on-air telephone calls, Skype, Zooms, Bitfire, LTN Teradek, and other remotes.
  • Operates computers.
  • Completes tasks accurately and independently prior to deadline, in accordance with editorial and production priorities.
  • Functions as an effective member of a team.
  • May serve as a team leader, assigning work and coaching team members and reporting to management on their performance.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
