MULTIMEDIA PRODUCER
WHO WE ARE:
Serving the country's fourth-largest media market, KERA reaches more than 5 million people monthly through KERA TV, KERA News, KXT, WRR and The Denton Record-Chronicle as well through national shows Think and From the Top. POSITION SUMMARY:
KERA is seeking a creative, fast-moving storyteller who can pick up a camera, find the shot, and turn it into something people want to watch, then repeat the process for multiple brands under the KERA family.
The Multimedia Producer will co-produce and direct with KERA colleagues across the organization. This individual will shoot and edit original content across all of KERA's brands including multi-media promotional spots, television fundraising campaigns, and stories that bring our community to life.
The ideal candidate is just as comfortable directing a shoot in the field as they are turning around a polished edit on a tight deadline. This individual will think like a marketer, not just an editor, and recognize that every cut serves the story and the brand.
KERA welcomes applicants who have never worked in a television setting.
This position is classified as FLSA exempt and is not eligible for overtime. The Multimedia Producer reports to the Creative Director and is a member of the Creative Services team.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
  • Direct, produce, shoot and edit original video content across KERA's brands (KERA TV, KERA News, KXT, NTX Now, KERA Kids, Think, From the Top and more)
  • Bring an eye for visually compelling, well-composed footage in the field (lighting, set choice, sound, subjects, edit, etc.)
  • Edit quickly and efficiently for multiple platforms - broadcast, social, digital
  • Produce organization promotional spots, sponsor spots, and TV fundraising campaign content, and comfortable with multi-cam directing in a live switch environment
  • Apply marketing and storytelling instincts to make every piece purposeful, not just polished
  • Collaborate with the Creative Services team to keep content moving across a busy, multi-brand pipeline
  • Stay up to date on visual trends, tools, and platform best practices
  • Occasionally empower colleagues across department to self-produce content
  • Develop innovative ways to enhance and elevate all content
  • Manage media assets and (or refine asset management practices at KERA)
  • Perform other creative duties as assigned

  • 3 years' experience directing, producing, writing, creating video content
  • Familiarity with web-based live streaming production tools and platforms
  • Comfort with live, and live to tape workflows
  • Proficiency of Adobe Premiere Pro required; familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, After Effects, Audition, Adobe Media Encoder)
  • Experience with cinema cameras, DSLR cameras, audio mixers, microphones, and lighting equipment
  • Ability to remain calm and think clearly under pressure, react quickly to changes
  • Excellent creative writing skills

BONUS IF YOU BRING:
  • Experience with live video streaming/switching tools (e.g., Atem Pro and vMix)
  • Comfort stepping into a technical director role for occasional live productions (training will be provided)

SALARY RANGE
$62,000 - $72,000 annually, depending on experience

LOCATION:
We expect that this position will work out of our Dallas office at least 50% of the time. (Equivalent to 20 hours per week)
