Fox TV StationsFOX Television Stations owns and operates 29 full power broadcast television stations in the U.S. These include stations located in 14 of the top 15 largest designated market areas, or DMAs, and duopolies in 11 DMAs, including the three largest DMAs (New York, Los Angeles and Chicago). In addition to distributing sports, entertainment and syndicated content, our television stations collectively produce approximately 1,200 hours of local news every week. Are you an agile, visual storyteller who knows how to capture the energy of a breaking story? FOX 5 Atlanta is seeking a flexible, highly skilled News Videojournalist (Per Diem) to join our award-winning news team on a part-time, as-needed basis.

In this role, you will be on the front lines of coverage, gathering field interviews, shooting dynamic footage, editing on tight deadlines, and delivering live video/audio narration across our linear broadcast and streaming platforms.

The Role: What You'll Do

Reporting to the Chief Videojournalist, you will bring high visual standards and operational speed to our newsgathering team.

  • Visual Storytelling: Shoot high-quality video, audio, and stills in the field, studio, and newsroom. Collaborate with reporters to produce compelling news packages using creative camera, lighting, and editing techniques.

  • Mobile & Live Reporting: Present extended, unscripted live coverage from the field for our live stream-frequently working solo using smartphones, LU-Smart apps, and professional mobile audio/video gear.

  • Field Information Gathering: Collect facts, obtain on-scene interviews, and operate ENG/IP live transmission vehicles and gear during remote broadcasts.

  • Fast-Paced Editing: Edit news stories on deadline in the field or in the newsroom using non-linear editing software.

  • Digital & Equipment Maintenance: Contribute video clips, stills, and story details to our digital and social media channels. Keep all assigned field gear clean, fully operational, and maintained.

What You Bring to the Table

  • Technical Mastery: Skilled in news videography and editing under daily, high-stakes deadline pressure.

  • Tool Proficiency: Experience with (or ability to quickly learn) Sony video cameras, Adobe Premiere, BitCentral, iNews, LiveU/LU-Smart, and field audio equipment.

  • Communication & Professionalism: Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and politely with public officials, news sources, station staff, and the general public.

  • Computer & Tech Literacy: Strong digital literacy with an eagerness to adapt to evolving field technologies.

Education & Experience

  • Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of experience as a news videojournalist (or equivalent role) in a commercial TV newsroom.

  • Education: Bachelor's degree from a four-year college or university preferred.

Requirements

  • Driving: Must have a valid driver's license and an exemplary, clean driving record.

  • Schedule: Per diem scheduling requires operational agility to support breaking news and evolving coverage needs.
