Job description

Test Proctor / Testing Center Administrator — Part-Time (Tempe, AZ)
Starting pay: $17.00 · 25–28 hours/week · Set schedule, no nights, closed Sundays
Innovative Minds has operated professional computer-based testing centers for over 18 years. We're hiring part-time Testing Center Administrators for our Tempe location.
Please note before applying: All shifts start at 8:00 AM, and this position requires passing a federal background check. Both are firm requirements of the role.
Why people stay in this role
This is a set schedule with assigned shifts. You'll know your hours in advance, you'll never work a night, and we're closed Sundays. From time to time we may ask if you're available to cover an extra shift when a coworker is out.
  • Paid training — no prior testing or technical experience needed
  • Arizona paid sick time - accrues from your first day, available to use after 90 days
  • Consistent weekly schedule you can plan around
  • Long-tenured team; many of our proctors have been with us for years
The schedule
All shifts start at 8:00 AM. We run on appointments, so testing candidates are scheduled to arrive at open .
  • Monday–Friday: 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Saturday: 8:00 AM–2:00 PM (rotating)
  • Sunday: Closed
What you'll do
Candidates come to our center to take licensing and certification exams. As a proctor, you'll:
  • Check candidates in and verify identification
  • Prepare testing rooms and computer stations
  • Monitor exam sessions and maintain exam security
  • Help candidates with basic computer login and setup
  • Keep accurate testing records and report any incidents or technical issues
  • Handle opening and closing duties
The center stays quiet for testers, but the front desk moves quickly — you'll be balancing check-ins, questions, and monitoring at the same time.
Digital fingerprinting services
Our Tempe location also provides digital fingerprinting, so this role includes a second responsibility that's unique to this site. You'll be trained to:
  • Verify identification for fingerprinting appointments
  • Capture electronic fingerprints using a live-scan system
  • Handle applicant personal information with strict confidentiality
No prior experience with fingerprinting is required — we provide full training and certification.
What we're looking for
  • 18 or older
  • Reliable and on time
  • Comfortable with computers and office technology
  • Strong attention to detail and good customer-service instincts
  • Able to work independently and stay attentive in a busy environment
Physical requirements
The essential functions of this position may require:
  • Frequent standing and walking between the front desk, testing rooms, and workstations
  • Prolonged periods of viewing computer monitors
  • Repeated use of hands and fingers to operate a live-scan fingerprint scanner, including guiding and positioning an applicant's hands on the scanner surface
  • Occasional reaching, bending, and lifting or handling of testing materials and office supplies, generally up to 20 pounds
  • Clear verbal communication with candidates and applicants in a quiet environment
  • Sustained attention and alertness throughout the assigned shift
Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential functions of this position, with or without reasonable accommodation.
