Job description

Dale Hardware, a member of ACE Hardware, and one of the largest independently owned and operated hardware retailers in the USA, is looking for Nursery Associates to join our beautiful outdoor garden center!

Responsibilities:

  • By starting the conversation and asking questions, you will walk customers to proper department area or team member and layout options.
  • Water, cut, fertilize, repot, clean-up and maintain all live plant merchandise with an emphasis on maintaining longevity.
  • Offer product suggestions to solve customer’s needs based on product knowledge or experience.
  • Accept customer returns graciously keeping in mind to trust your instincts, if it doesn’t feel right or look right, then it is probably not right.
  • Determine if we can special order the customers requested item and then offer to do so.
  • Offer assistance to customers with large or bulky items.
  • Employ our “shoplifting prevention procedure” anytime you see suspicious persons or activity.
  • Bring real or anticipated operating problems promptly to your manager’s attention.
  • Greet customers with a smile and strive to exceed the customer’s expectations.
  • Understand how to operate and use our special order system to accommodate our customer’s needs and requests.
  • Receive, inspect and unload incoming live plant shipments, refusing shipments of distressed inventory when necessary.
  • Communicate customer requests and suggestions to your manager.
  • Strengthen the relationship with the customer. Find out the customer’s name and use it while you assist them. 
  • Thank the customer for shopping with us.
