SUMMARY

The Live Event Custodian will perform basic janitorial work including servicing of trash and recycling bins and grounds cleaning. Our Custodial crews work in conjunction with our Zero Waste and Recycling Coordinators to provide exceptional customer service and a clean work environment for our venues. This position is part-time and seasonal based on event schedules with hours varying based on business needs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Assist in managing onsite sustainability programs from pre-event set-up, event day execution, and post event tear down.
  • Service recycling, trash, and compost bins; sort material; load and unload equipment; maintain equipment inventory
  • Must have effective communication skills in order to: understand and follow written and verbal work instructions and safety standards, and complete all paperwork associated with equipment transportation, customer interactions, and deliveries.
  • Perform all job duties in a friendly, courteous manner and adhere to all safety requirements.
  • Respond to customers promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to work alone and with a team in a collaborative environment; Must be able to interact in person with coworkers and the public.
  • Must be able to handle high stress situations.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • 1 year of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Prior event management experience or sustainability industry knowledge is not required. Interest and willingness to learn about the recycling and sustainability industries is preferred.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Occasionally lift, move, or position objects weighing up to 50 pounds
  • May be required to work outside in all weather conditions including, but not limited to: extreme heat, humidity, extreme cold, snow and rain.
